My wife and I will be visiting Chiang Mai in early January. We usually stay at the Chiang Mai Gate Hotel but thought we might try something different. Checking a couple of websites I found Lanna Palace and the Centara Duangtawan for around B1250 including breakfast. Any recommendations as to which would be the better choice?

Yes, I also agree. Plus, it's located steps from the Night Bazaar. Walking street at night and many, many restaurants.

Thats like asking how long is a piece of string. All depends on you

I would smudge the latter; awful management and rooms in serious need of upgrading. The outlook/guest care between the two is night & day. It's a shame as CM Plaza is in a good spot.

Defo Duangtawan over the Gate, though neither is spectacular.
