TAT TO ORGANIZE ANDAMAN GRAND SALE IN HONOUR OF THE FIRST ANNIVERSARY OF THE TSUNAMI DISASTER

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) will organize the ANDAMAN GRAND SALE on the occasion of the first anniversary of the tsunami disaster. Advisor to the deputy Prime Minister Chaipak Siriwat (ชัยภักดิ์ ศิริวัฒน์) said that the ANDAMAN GRAND SALE will be one event organized by the southern provinces rehabilitation sub-committee chaired by deputy Prime minister Suwat Liptapanlop(สุวัจน์ ลิปตพัลลภ).

He said that the TAT decided to organize the event because it wants tourists to gain most benefits when returning to the southern Andaman coast. He said that tourism on the Andaman coast has recovered quickly, in comparison with Bali. He said that the Andaman Grand Sale will serve as a supporting campaign for tourism during the first anniversary of the tsunami disaster. He said that most shops in Phuket (ภูเก็ต), Pang-nga (พังงา), and Krabi (กระบี่) have expressed their willingness to join the campaign, as it is costless and they will receive cash from tourists.

The Andaman Grand Sale will start from December 27, 2005 to January 28 of next year. Mr. Chaipak said that Prime Minister Thaksin Shinnawat (ทักษิณ ชินวัตร) will travel to Phuket tomorrow to preside over the meeting on Homestay for the tourists coming for the anniversary of the tsunami disaster. The meeting will be held at Phuket Graceland Hotel.
