Russian man goes on stabbing spree in Moscow

MOSCOW, RUSSIA (BNO NEWS) -- A Russian drug addict went on a stabbing spree in the capital of Moscow on early Friday afternoon, local media reported, killing two people.

The attack began at around 1 p.m. local time when 27-year-old Alexei Arbuzov started stabbing pedestrians with a knife in northeastern Moscow. Russian Investigation Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin told Itar-Tass that officers were able to detain Arbuzov about 15 minutes later.

The attack began after Arbuzov, an alleged drug addict from Shatura, some 124 kilometers (77 miles) east of Moscow, had attempted to buy strong medications at a pharmacy. Police said he stabbed eleven people, of whom two later died.

Authorities are investigating the attack.
