Hi.

I have my first retirement extension of stay, granted 22 September 2011. And a multiple re-entry permit. At the time of getting these, a note in the passport told me to report to immigration on 20 December 2011.

I recently flew out of Thailand and returned today (10 December) by air. Immigration gave me an entry stamp dated today, and this stamp also included my extension numbers. There is no reference to when I should now report to immigration, which I assumed would be in 90 days time. I asked the officer twice about this and he was adamant that I must still report to immigration on the 20 December.

Is this correct? I thought the clock was reset when you left and re-entered the country.

Any help would be very much appreciated. :jap:

Thank you, that was what I was wanting to hear. I didn't like to question the immigration officer for a third time in case he got pi##ed off with me.

So, now I just have to make sure I do the maths right, and report a day or two early to be on the safe side.

Thank you. :jap:

Each time you leave the country and re-enter the 90 day clock restarts itself.

Which is why in almost a decade on a retirement visa I can count the number of times I had to make a 90 day report on the fingers of one hand. ...

Never had an issue about it.

If yous hould ever get asked (which would most likely be when you went for your annual extension of stay) just explain that you left the country X times and thus were not here for more than 90 days in a stretch. This is easily verified from the entry and exit stamps in your passport.
