Re-Entry Permit - A Fast Procedure?

Featured Replies

Is obtaining a Re-entry permit - a fast procedure?

Wondering if I can just pop at the immigration at afternoon and get it fast.

I just did one about a week ago. You need:

1.) 4 x 6 cm photo

2.) TM-8 Form. You can download this online, fill it out and print it out to save some time. Alternatively, as you walk in the door of immigration, the form is in a box immediately on your right.

3.) Printed and signed copy of the front bio page of your passport. (You can have this printed at the little shop behind immigration for 2 baht/ page)

4.) Printed and signed copy of the current visa in your passport.

5.) Printed and signed copy of the departure card stapled in your passport.

6.) Single reentry is 1000 THB and multiple is 3800 THB. You must pay in Cash, not credit. (There is a KTB ATM across the street in front of the gas station).

I turned up about 11 AM to do apply for my re-entry permit and was finished by about 12:15. I would recommend getting your queue number immediately and then use the wait time to fill out the TM8 form, make copies, or whatever else you need to do.

Hope this helps,

Are all desks working through the lunch hour now?

The 90 day report seems to be.

All the Thai Immigration Forms are available for download here Forms . You can complete them on your computer or print them and do it by hand. Save the form and for most things like 90 Day reports, you only need to go back and change the date. Saves a lot of time.

I was there about 2 months ago to get one. I turned up around 9:20 and was told to come back after 13:00 to pick up my passport as there were more than 25 in the queue ahead of me.

Note that you can also do a re-entry permit at the airport when flying out, but you still need to bring the same stuff, and not sure if they do a multiple re-entry as well. Typically faster though if you need to leave in a hurry and only need a single re-entry.

yah... i was uncertain that it could be done at airport (based on research here), so i went to immigration office and after getting my reentry permit, i asked the officer about the airport office. He told me that office was no longer in service.

when i flew out (october), the office at the airport was indeed open and providing service.

as mentioned, appropriate documents are required and if you don't have them... you are out of luck.

Based on what was asked by immigration in the past, my list includes the following copies from my passport,

.copy of photo page,

.copy transfered visa (from old passport)

.copy current extension page

.copy of last re-entry permit

.copy of last entry stamp

.copy of departure form

I must add that every time I visit immigration and give them the minimum copies of passport pages and wait for them to ask for additional copy of pages which I have on hand (the above list) to give them.

When I flew out last week on the 6th (about 5PM) I noticed the sign for the office at the airport. It definitely looked shut down.

  • 1 month later...

My local office is Udon. I have a Non-B & WP. I have had to arrange a last minute flight from Suvanaphumi - I'm supposed to fly out next week. My problem is that I wasn't aware of having to arrange the flight until I arrived in BKK for something else.

The obvious question is how can I get a re-entry permit in BKK?

The SuanPlu Immig. office indicates it only caters to foreigners registered living in BBK, which seems to exclude me.

The previous poster said the office at the airport looked closed.

Any advice please?

I think the previous poster was referring to Chiang Mai.

Hellodolly,

Thanks for the info. I missed the obvious there.

I searched for re-entry permit and posted, not realising it was the CM forum. My fault for being hard of learning...

There usually aren't dozens of people queueing up for a re-entry, so if it looks unattended may not mean that they can't find an immigration dude to issue one on those 2-3 occasions someone needs one? This is just a guess; last time I got one in Chiang Mai the counter was unattended too.

I would try to find out, but then this is still Thailand; someone might either say 'sure, no problem', or 'noway, totally impossible' and when you're actually there the situation is the complete opposite. Perhaps I would go to Suvarnabhumi and find out there, so several days before your actual flight out.
