Any suggestions/recommendations for where and what brand/type of vacuum cleaner for cars?

We have two 4wd Toyotas that get pretty filthy as we use them a lot in the mountains

I know you can buy household vacuum cleaners from Bic C, but I wonder how long these will last if we are using them to suck up dirt in our car

Thinking about something more 'industrial' may be? How much would this cost?

Also water jet sprays for washing cars, any suggestions where I can buy these?

PS I live in Chiang Mai

For the vaccuum cleaner, look for a 'wet & dry' type (i.e. one that's able to suck water). I bought an 'Astina' branded one a few years back that looks like a large bucket of paint with wheels, and it still serves me well - have seen them at Power Buy and Makro.

For Pressure Washers, Home Pro, Global House etc sell the better name brands (e.g. Karcher) but they're pricey (10K+).. If you're going to need to use it on a daily basis it's what I'd suggest though. Makro sell some cheaper ones (2K+), as will any number of little mom & pop 'garden care' type shops. Steer clear of the Black & Decker branded ones though - they're junk.

Your K brand in the cheap range is crap, had 2 in UK. ;)

I got a Ryobi jet spray thing from Home Pro. I bought the biggest one for 4,500 baht and it works great.

Only use it for the car though as I tried to clean a wall at home and it took all the paint off it, but its ok for the car.

Bought my wet/dry vac at Tesco several years ago believe it or not and just recently they had another one I should have bought quite inexpensive. But I have refurbished mine once with a new motor and some other fabrications to improve it's cooling but it's over 10 years old now and still going strong and it just got a ton of use with our flood clean up..

Also got my Karcher 100bar washer about the same time, I think it was at Home Pro and it's doing just fine as well with plenty of use for them both especially recently as I said but because of that they've been really convenient to have.

Here in Bangkok on Cheang Whattana in the Villa Market strip mall there's a Karcher dealer and they have a full line of both units up to any use you want..

If they sell for 10k, could make some money, there is a pickup full of them, he parks anywhere between Index and Big C Extra every day at Bank Yai, 1,200 baht each.

Mine is a 'Bosch' very good and cost 2,600 baht, use it most days..

MoonRiverOasis may have been talking about the big industrial type ? for private use on car and around the house, they are to big and clumsy

2 houses up the Village at this moment the owner is washing his car and pickup, his is a Black and Decker, the motor is a high pitch scream

yep, Karcher has a substantial increase in quality when you move up to the 9 amp, 130bar,660liter/hour range. the cheap ones are utter crap.

B&D is a joke

Home Pro sell an Italian brand, dark blue, Zinsano or something?but it takes almost 10k baht to get 130 bar/660liter/hour, which is a minimum. good quality. Italians have for decades been best on pumps, compressors and Beretta :)

Presently there is a Home Pro campaign on Zinsano? 100 bar/330 liter which gets the dirt off at 2690 baht

I have just given up on my beloved 10yo KEW 130 bar/660 liter/hour, and thus presently using a 80 bar Karcher. Like a noisy garden hose

vacumcleaner for cars, as MRO says, a bucket with a huge fan on the top, suck wet and dry, noisy but cheap, warranty on engine and hose is what matters

I'm told by a local in the know that the less expensive Zinzano brand generally under 130 bar are junk Chinese made which likely is the reasoning they can sell them so much cheaper.

Karcher is a bit noisy but the job gets done and has for years since I don't sleep while I'm using it never bothers me. Well worth the money.

If you can find any genuine Karcher for 1,200 Baht, I definitely recommend you grab some and go into business - that's 1/4 the price of their cheapest, crappiest model ;)
