Hillside Jungle Cleared

Featured Replies

Over the weekend a front end loader has been denuding a large tract of jungle on a steep bit of hillside above the RIB factory in Chalong. Does anybody know what is planned for this potential land slip area?

The work on an access road continues as I write:

The hill is a lot steeper than it appears in the photos.

The usual illegal logging and construction. No reason to get exited. Please walk on, nothing to see here.

Seeing this really pisses me off. Isn't there already enough damage being done to the Island. Then especially on a hillside!

Pretty soon this place will begin to look like Tenerife.

Give it a couple of rainy seasons and you won't even notice it.

Unless it's covered in Balinese style villas.

The area eventually cleared of vegetation is quite large:

It doesn't look it, but there's more than 30 metres difference in height from the top of the block to the bottom.

Glad I don't live in one of the houses at the bottom (landslide risk).

Fairly sure it's not reverting to jungle again. Looks like it's going to be a housing development or resort.
