She would need the letter, a power of attorney and also your passport and a copy of the photo page, plus the fee.

Hate to ask but why can you not do it?

I used this method, the Embassy was not busy and I could have collected that afternoon, they are turning things around quicker than normal.

Do it by mail.........

Consular Section is able to issue a standard letter addressed to Thai Immigration confirming your pension / income in order to support the renewal / extension of your retirement visa. The granting of the visa is at the sole discretion of the Thai Immigration authorities not the British Embassy.

Requirements:

  • Photocopy of your current British passport
  • Original evidence of your current pension/income
  • Your local address to be typed on the letter

Please ensure the pension/income evidence you provide is in a form that is simple and easy to understand and contains the key financial amounts that are required for inclusion in the letter.

The standard letter fee is currently Baht 2,250 and payable in cash or a postal order. The letter will be ready for collection in person or sent to you by express mail with an additional postage Baht 100.

If you are unable to contact us in person, please mail us your request stating the total pension amount received monthly/yearly and enclosing the above documents. Kindly make the postal order (available at post offices) payable to the British Embassy and to be cashed at Nana Post Office Bangkok 10112

Thank you but I can read the embassy web site.

If anyone else want to get another person to go for them then it is all very simple all your need to is write them a letter of authorisation and that is it, give them your documents and they can do it for you. ( I phoned the British embassy today and asked them)

Can you print off a copy of your internet banking account of your monthly income and will they take that as evidence?

Will who take that as evidence, the embassy or immigration?

Immirgation will not take it as evidence. For income from abroad they want a letter from your embassy, for income from within Thailand tax-documents.

"I am interested in this. If i get a monthly credit from my UK employer that shows as a transfer to my account...will the British Embassy write me a letter confirming my income , even though it is not a pension but an income ? I have more than 80k thb coming in every month but would immigration notice this ? Would it be a problem for an extension ? "

Immigration does't care as long as the money is coming from overseas. If you have a letter from the embassy stating that you are receiving more than 65000 baht/month from overseas, and proof to show immigration if they ask, it should not be a problem. Many people offically retired in Thailand are still employed overseas. The rule is that you can not work in Thailand.

That would be true for a retirement extension, but the OP posted about getting a "marriage visa."

That is true, I was replying to Battersea, the post before mine which was about pension. I haven't firgued our this "wonderful new format" yet. The old format allowed you to reply directly to an individual post.

Maybe there was some forum software glitch which has since been corrected? I simply pressed the "Quote" button to include your previous post in my reply.

Your suggesrion seems to work now. I tried that before and was sent to the "black hole of calcutta". Maybe somrone is really working on the glitches or maybe my brain is slowly assimilating the changes.

only 40,000thb for a marriage visa and if your wife works you can put the two incomes together if your own pension or income does not equate to 40,000, hope this helps
