Best Pies In Town - Savory

Featured Replies

As much fuss as been made here on the forum over the myriad beloved Farang foods we make an effort to find, I don't see one on pies. Frankly I'm shocked. I'd assume at least all of those from the UK have a favorite places to grab a pie as much as they do to find a proper Sunday Roast.

Please point me towards your favorite eateries and you favorite varieties of pies. Whose should I really try ?

Kasems produce tasty pies.

Mushies and veges (not to be confused with mushy peas),chicken and beef.

Worth a shot.

Cheers.

Not all UK expats hanker after a sunday roast or the poor pies offered here.

But you could always buy a nice leg of lamb (New Zealand) from Makro at a fraction of the price offered in R..ping supermarkets.

Slow roast in a slow cooker for about three to four hours....add roast potatoes from the oven...a few vegetables ( steamed in the microwave) of your choice plus add the gravy from the potatoes and slow cooker with a bit of OXO and flour to thicken the gravy......a touch of mint sauce for the lamb....and hey presto....!!

A personal recipe for you.

Sounds Ok....try it

As for pies .....too much fat and glutton ...up to you...personal choice.

Hope that helps..rolleyes.gif

The problem with Pies is the pastry.

You need Lard to make good pastry.

I have been told by Two of the Local Brit pie makes you cannot obtain lard at economical prices in Thailand.

I was laughed off the Issan section of this board when I repeated that tale.

I have a pie make in Buri Ram who makes excellent pastry for his pies tho I am not happy with his fillings.

Millions of pigs are slaughtered every Year/Month ? in Thailand, this is the source of lard or so I am told.

Charlie of Fish & Chips fame did a reasonable pie, his father was a baker in UK during the second war and Knew how to do it.

Kasem do good pies, when fresh and warm but they are Microwave sensitive.

UN Irish do a good pie, I cannot say if they 'Travel' home.

I considered the Aussei Lady Pies from Rimping the best available in CM.

Villa in Hua HIn had some decent pies, names slip my mind.

Having a very nice Steak & Kidney Pudding for lunch today, Cums from Buri Ram.

Yorkies pies in rimping are good, a bit more expensive than sausage jockeys but a lot nicer.
