Thai Citizen Health Insurance

Featured Replies

hello everyone,

i have one question...is every thai citizen has a free health insurance after they born?i asked this question, because, my girlfriend's son (2 year old) is sick now and stays in hospital. he has a respiratory problem. my girlfriend has no job and she told me that, medical treatment cost 30.000 baht. i am confused at this problem. that can be true?? thanks for your reply...

Its back to 30B a day, though if he's in a private hospital it would be more. 30,000B sounds a little excessive, unless she's taken him somewhere a bit fancy expecting you to cover the bill.

As an example, I know a guy who was in a western standard (average western standard) hospital in Chiang Mai with bleeding lungs, had a personal room, was on all kind of medication and had a personal nurse by his bed 24hrs a day and after a week his bill was slightly short of 30,000B.

Guess it depends on the respiratory problem your girlfriend's son has.
