I am a female British national/ passport holder and want to go to KL to apply for a Non-Imm 'O' based on marriage.

- What docs will I need to take to apply

- Will they issue singe entry or multi-entry? (if they issue single, I guess I have to apply in CM for extension?)

- Is it next day pick up?

23+24 Jan is public holiday in Malaysia (Chinese new year), unfortunately I'll probably have to go on 25th where there will probably be a huge backlog

Female, live in Chiang Mai?

Go to Vientiane and get a single entry. Bring usual docs and marriage cert. All photocopied. No financial statements required for 90 day single entry.

Extend for one year at immigration when you return.

As said, for a female married to a Thai national you can get an extension of stay without having to meet any financial requirements. regardless of your current visa class, you can get a 60 day extension from immigration.

KL normally issues single non-O's, unless one can show 100,000 baht in a bank-account. Savanakhet, Laos, will issue a multiple non-O without the need for showing financials.

Thanks. Would it be my bank statement, or my Thai husband's bank statement that I show for multi-entry? I guess with multi-entry I will have to do border runs every 3mths

But if I apply for 1yr ext at CM Immigration, does that mean they stamp a permission to stay for 1 yr (so no need to do border runs)?

What docs will I need to show CM Imm for this ext?

You only want a single entry visa and you should have marriage certificate/copy of husbands ID card signed by him and of his home register. At Vientiane or other Consulate only fee/fill out form/photo/your passport should be required. When down to 30 days or less visit immigration with husband to extend for one year (under review for 30 days and then one year stamp) and after that you just report address every 90 days if staying in Thailand and re-do the extension each year. Husband will need his ID and home register documents and perhaps some proof of income. At Chiang Mai believe you make appointment for service so be sure to do that early as large backlog.

If you plan frequent travel and do not want to extend the best choice for multi entry visa now is Savannakhet in Laos.

The Thai has to show proof of income in order for the foreigner to get the visa extension? coffee1.gif

What if they are "kept" or don't have much of an income?

A Thai husband doesn't need to meet minimum income requirements to apply for an extension of his foreign wife. But often it will be asked for as supporting evidence. But if ther is no (official) income, the application is not going to be denied.
