If I make a 39% owned company to own a house and land, do I need a work permit to capitalize the company from abroad and sign checks on a Thai bank to pay for house/land purchase?

Thank you ...Sunbelt Asia , you are helpful .

Ok , Pete.... if you need to apply for a work permit but not sure of the best way of doing it.

During the processing for apply a work permit , you must not let your visa expire. The Labor Department's system relate to the non-immigrant visa. A normally time for approval of the work permit for a company that had 2 million baht registered capital is 7 business days in Bangkok[faster than any province in Thailand] . But for the BOI company can get the approval only 3 hour processing times at the One Stop Service Center. The Labor Department will give you a receipt for your return date for receiving your Blue work permit book [you have to pick up your blue work permit book in person at the labour department]

Government fee : a permit valid for not exceed 3 months 750 THB

a permit valid for 3-6 months 1,500 THB

a permit valid for 6 months - 1 year 3,000 THB

*[depanding on the length of your work permit]

" I have a Thai limited co "- It's great !!! , Only a legal entity registered in Thailand is eligible to apply for work permits.

To open a corporate checking account, you will need a work permit.

To open a corporat savings account, a work permit will not be required with certain banks. We can hlp you with the introduction.

Hi, sorry about the delay in answering, & thanks for your replies. Wow loads to take in.

I think the docs for the company are in order as the immigration dept were happy & its a 2 mil setup.

Medical certificate & photos shouldnt be a problem.

I am not employing anybody at present but not sure about the future.

I am not applying for a job & not getting married.

Whats a BOI company?where & what is the 'one stop service centre'?

I am in Koh Samui so would it be a true advantage to do the Bangkok thing? The 'Company' has been initially set up to purchase land & I intend to build soon. As i do not intend to work as such, ie, run a bar or restaurant etc, do i need to do the resume/cv thing?

What does-*[depanding on the length of your work permit]mean? was it just the cost?

Many thanks we_zaa & sunbelt. Pete.........
