Medical & Dental Surgery In Thailand

Featured Replies

Merry Christmas All.

Theres seems a buzz around at the moment concerning Thailand and Medical Surgery and Dentistry.

Of my own experiences I have a bridge and a gap closed in my front teeth in 2008, the dental side is exceptional in Thailand.

<PLUG> Soi 3 Pattaya </PLUG>

The Dentist used state of the art materials, equipment, was surgically clean and charged me (20% what I would have paid in the UK as a private patient).

Surgery wise, this is where we have a problem. In the UK most medical is free, NHS. So no matter, who cheap it would be in Thailand it cant be my local hospital which is very well equiped.

But this got me thinking. There is a lot about medical tourism at the moment and Thailand seems to be coming out of one the destinations which is preferred especially by the yanks.

Has anyone had any experience besides dental with surgery and would they recommend treatment to the forum.

Many Thanks

Had a reversal in Chula, using Government time, was looking at a bill of around 50-60,000 baht, surprised when my wife returned with the bill under 6.500baht (yes, six thousand five hundred). Great doctor, before the surgery had the injection to make me feel drowsy, the woman doctor who gave me it was nice, spoke great English and very friendly. Enjoyed the stay, food not fantastic, but all in all a pleasant experience

Dentists - have always hated going to the dentist, had to go as needed a tooth pulling, the dentist (woman) was fantastic, friendly and advised me what she was doing at all times, felt a little sore but was okay. Another dentist I visited for cleaning was great as well, made me feel relaxed, the treatment room was small but very clean and the staff were also good, and not expensive either. (both facilities in Nonthaburi on Ngamwongwan Road)

How would you compare the overall service against going through your GP and getting treatment in the UK. ( I am assuming your English because of your avatar).

It's not just the yanks who are coming over here for medical treatments. Go to Bumrungrad and you will see thousands of arabs. Not sure why they are here, but they are.

Optional surgery (plastic, tummy tucks, etc) are very popular with all nationalities. Do the procedure and recover on the beach. Not a bad way to go.

But I think India has one up on Thailand with regards to this????
