Hi,

Is there any Pick up or SUV in Thailand available (brand new no second hand) for a range between 400.000 – 500.000 THB? Maybe Toyota, Isuzu, Ford? It will be my first vehicle in Thailand but it no need to be that expensive. :-)

Regards

Have a look at Tata from India http://www.tatamotors.co.th/splash-page/, I believe these are actually built in Thailand.

Tata have a deserved reputation for building solid and reliable commercial vehicles, however my experiences of their cars (in India) is less favourable, hopefully the Thai built vehicles are better.

suv, no way

suzuki carry 1600cc petrol at 325k baht

chevy 2,5 commonrail dropside flatbed at 399k baht if they still make them at this price

nissan old style Frontier 2,5 commonrail at approx same price

would stay away from Tata as they dont have countrywide service/dealerships

cars, Nissan March, Proton Savvy/Saga, Honda Brio if you can wait 4-6 months

@Tywais

So Toyota Vigo Standard 4x2 ist about 452.000 - 509.000 THB. Sounds not that bad,thank. wai.gif

@Crossy

I also think i should stay far from Tata. In my mind Tata Pick up don´t look nice.

@katabeachbum

Yes you are right i will stay far from Tata. But Suzuki carry also don´t look what i need. Pick up will be the best.

Some more questions to everybody:

Is the price negotiable in Thailand?

How about Price ranking from Isuzu and Ford?

What is the most used Pick up there in Thailand? How you think about Isuzu,good or bad Pick up?

I think single cap or double cab is up to what i need? Or what will you recommend me?

What should i thinking about if i buy a Pick up in Thailand,anything i should take care?

Regards

A friend has one, although I was impressed with the truck, it was more basic than other models, his dog was able to get under the truck and chew the wiring loom which required a complete renew.

I just wonder if it will hold up like the Toyota's

Just my opinion, he is very happy with it.

Worrying the the dog was able to do so much damage from outside the vehicle. I've not tried the pickup so no direct experience, OP was looking for a low-cost option and there is no doubt that the Tata is at the lower end of the price bracket.

I believe Tata are the only manufacturer offering a drop side bed in a 1 ton vehicle.

I have seen the dropside.. good bits of kit on a budget,

RE the loom - it is worrying, it should be inside the bodywork, these are 'high' vehicles so you should be able to go over roughish terrain without the loom getting caught

Most pickup here start around your price bracket, try a search yourself http://www.redbookasiapacific.com/th/vehicle/index.php?lang=en&new=1

Don't forget here there is no law about airbags and ABS, so even brand new many cars and pickups do not have them...

A EXT cab pickup with ABS, Airbags, MP3, etc appear to start around 600 - 650,000 baht......... Next house to me in the Village has just bought a Toyota Vigo 5 speed manual with a canopy, total price just over 900,000, the top model Auto is 1 million +

Tough price bracket..

If I was forced into this price range, it'd be a hard choice between a Nissan Almera E CVT (489K), A Toyota VIOS J MT (514K), a Mazda BT-50 Freestyle 2.5 MT (524K), and a 2012 Chevy Colorado LS extracab 2.5 MT (537K sticker, but I'd expect a discount off that being a Chev).

As noted earlier, none have any safety features to speak of at this price point though.

Thank again to everybody. jap.gif

Now after I read some things I think for my range about 400.000 – 500.000 THB I cannot buy that kind of pick up I like. I think it will be 700.000 THB up. And, yes something like ABS and airbag is really important, cannot find in that low range.

Isuzu, Toyota or Ford what is the best? I see a lot of Isuzu pick up on the Thai Road, more than Toyota and also more than Ford. Mean Isuzu is the best?

How about the System in Thailand, the price for brand new Pick up is negotiable?

Depends what you want the pickup for! I have a Toyota Hilux smartcab and its a good solid truck I use it on the farm. I also had a Mitsu Triton 4x4 and that was also a good solid truck but was full option and was very comfortable.

Where are you in Thailand? I tend to see more Toyotas on the road in Thailand in the 7 years I have been here with the Isuzu second and Mitsu third.

They are all good cars I personally prefer the Mitsu but it really depends on what you like and what you need it for.

Everyone has there own view as to what is best... Myself had 3 new Isuzu D-Max the last one new in 2008, the steering was most odd compared to the 2005 model, Toyota I don't like the drive I test drove them all again before my present new pickup, Mazda BT50 just felt a lot nicer to drive and more comfortable + very happy with it..

Isuzu and Toyota have a high resale value maybe the reason why so many on the roads........ Eg: Bought my new D-Max Hi-Lander in 2008 cost 650k, part exchanged 2011 for the BT50 Hi-Racer+, got 460k for the D-Max and was just under 400,000 km on the clock.. Maybe could have got more with a private sale ?

Ford Ranger 2012 provides the best crash safety and is the most modern pickup out there. Toyota and Isuzu wins the sales stats with approx 40% each

Prices are non negotiable, but sometimes free Insurance, tax and stuff is possible
