Jatuporn: Govt to Give Bt46 Million to Bail Jailed Red-shirts

A key red-shirt leader and Pheu Thai MP said during a campaign speech in support of his colleague who is running in a provincial administration election that the government is prepared to allocate 46 million baht to bail out red-shirt detainees.

Pheu Thai Party list MP and key red-shirt leader Jatuporn Phromphan helped candidate No.2, Khajornthon Jutto, campaign for the Buri Ram provincial administration organization president by giving speeches in Nangrong District and at the Buri Ram College of Agriculture and Technology.

Each campaign rally drew more than 2,000 audience members with over 50 police officers stationed at each location to ensure security.

During his speech, Jatuporn said that at the upcoming Cabinet meeting, the government will propose that 46 million baht in cash be allocated to bailing out red-shirt detainees and compensating victims of the protest crackdowns as well as others who were affected.

The government will provide the bail money for the alleged criminals that are charged with crimes against the country.

.

Yes, that is how I read the proposal.

It will be interesting to see if anyone with one iota of intelligence will actually give it more than a second's thought while taking a long relaxing leak at the urinal.

A nice example of how to win an election in Thailand.

Very clever to connect the fairytale of government bailout money with the real plans for victim compensation. So every time that issue is discussed, the poor redshirt followers have their hopes for release of their relatives flying high without anything really happening.

And the Government cannot dismiss Jatuporn's claims without looking bad.

If Yingluck were the PM, she would give Jatuporn a roasting for leaking a "cabinet agenda" without her authorization.

Actually, if memory serves me well, the previous government also provided money for bailing incarcerated Red Shirts.

Its still a silly idea in my opinion.

Brave Thai soldiers, I know that you must be tired regarding all the good deeds that you did during the floods.

By helping all of us, without any distinction of nationality -or political orientation- not only in my province -Nonthaburi- ; but as well in south Thailand, at present.

I am just hoping that you will still have the strenght for a flowered up coup!

If proven true, is this not blatant government interference in the judicial branch and should meet with harshest criticism? Secondly, how dare they use tax payer money for this? If anything, perhaps they should take the bail money from the sacks of cash many of their ministers apparently have stashed away at home in their closets. Lastly, when will this loudmouth Jatuporn finally shut up?

Hmmm... Of course if the deciders of that Country would vote that amendment, for us foreigners, it would be a political scandal (only 1 more:-)) in the Land of Smiles. But if you wonder only a moment and you look around you, this is how everything works here. Or maybe am i too much pessimistic ?

He said it'll be proposed, this hardly means it'll be approved.

Actually it said neither one. here is a copy of what it said.

"the government is prepared to allocate 46 million baht to bail out red-shirt detainees."

That would mean that they have all ready approved it. remember that the red shirts are the military arm of the TP so of course they are going to try to free them.

No surprise there.

Since the govt has been handling out a lot of coupons in relation to the recent flooding, coupons to tax drivers to get a discount on CNG/NVG, etc., maybe the govt could just hand out some "get out of jail" coupons to the jailed redshirts.

Don't worry about that one, there is no such thing.

Doubt the government had approved the monies. This sounds more like the jolly Mr. Jatuporn trying to back the government into a corner. He has a habit of shooting his mouith off and embarrassing his political "allies". I have the impression that he doesn't give a <deleted> about the government position, but is merely trying to represent his own political group's interests. I suppose one can't blame him for doing what he's supposed to do as a UDD leader, but he cannot get angry if the government doesn't meet his demand. I believe this meets the definition of the expression "political chutzpah".

Where and to who does any bail money go to anyway....???
