Thai Highway Traffic Monitoring System

Featured Replies

I am very curious to know what sort of equipment type/brand is used to monitor the highways in Thailand.

For example speed traps, cameras etc. How the system is used to catch & prosecute traffic offenders.

Laser speed camera is becoming more and more popular. Just recieved a fine by mail from November2011, Highway 11 in Uttaradat at the 90-91km mark. Sensor set at 120kmh in 90 area, caught at 139kmh. Fine is 400 baht, pay at post ads 104 baht, increases every month until paid and easily becomes 1000 baht within a year if not paid. Saved at DLT until paid, and not possible to transfer car or pay annual tax/recieve registration before paid.

Lousy photo and despite photoshopped unable to see driver, but not needed in TH as owner is responsible for cars use and thus fines

In addition old fashion laser and radar speedchecks are used, they have in common usually set at above 120kmh in 90 area, and fine is suaully 200 baht.

Max fine for speeding is 1000 baht, unless causing an accident
