Google'S Answer To Keyloggers On Public Computers

Sign Into Your Google Account on Public Computers Without Typing Anything

If you ever want to log into your Google account when you're at a public computer, where you're unsure whether or not there's a keylogger installed, there's now a solution. And it's from Google!

First, point the (insecure) computer's browser at accounts.google.com/sesame. Now pull out your Android or iPhone, and take a shot of the QR code that pops up on screen. This will signal to Google's servers that you're at this terminal, and will log you into your Google account without any further typing.

Just highlighting to anyone that tries this, that you can't just take a photo, You need to have a code scanning app installed of which there are 100's of free ones in the app store.

Great idea from googlewerks..

Yes, very interesting. A secure way to log into Google accounts.

For other accounts, maybe they will also follow with something like this.

And, there are several anti-keylogging virtual keyboard programs available on the internet utillizing mouse techniques. Portable USB versions, also.

There is an earlier TV thread about this.

Why not log into the account using the phone instead?

Using the above mentioned URL it takes me to a page saying the following:

Hi there - thanks for your interest in our phone-based login experiment.

While we have concluded this particular experiment, we constantly experiment with new and more secure authentication mechanisms.

Stay tuned for something even better!

I've just tried it and I get the same message as Kotsak.
