Green Tea. Why I Slam A Few Cups Daily

Anti-cancer, cholesterol, blood preassure, anti-aging, anti-viral, anti-bacterial, immune sytem booster, super-anti-oxidant, oral health, anti-allergy, fatloss

The list is long - and even if only half of it turns out to be true it is a cheap and refreshing way to stay healthly - just don't expect those bottled teas to do much. Brew a strong cup at home - preferably the raw boxed (not bags as been grinded too much) ones. Now if only I could find those tea eggs we always used at home...?

Cheers!

So does that mean Lipton tea bags aren't very good for this? Would like to wean myself off of coffee (cafeine). I thought the tannic acid in tea was a problem.

tea bags

:o:D

tannic acid

could make constipation... :D

Well - green tea seems to have more of the beneficial effects than black teas like normal Lipton(note; they make green tea too though!) which loses a lot of the effects through the fermentation process. (Green tea being turned into black tea actually). Cheers!

HOT avatar Bambina! That should get those PMs flowing! :o

Japanese drink bottled green tea from Coca Cola all the time, nobody bothers to brew it. There is no (or I don't know of) sugared green tea here. In Bangkok, there are 30+ brands and I know of only 2 that are not sweetened with sugar or cordial.

My habbit when first came to Japan was 5-6 diet cokes a day. A year ago started drinking green tea and totally lost interest in coke.

Now I'm, on 2.5L of green tea a day, Japanese tell me more than that may impact my sleep.

I have no health issues so I can't say if the tea is doing anything good to me but like to drink it.

It's not that black tea is particularly bad for you, it's not! It's just that green tea is better. Fewer tannins, less caffine, etc. Also the choice is better. I have a dozen different types of green tea, there's one for every occasion.

If you worried about caffine, just throw the first brew away and the second brew is far better. That's another benefit, with the higher quality teas to will get 2-3 brews.

Also try to get 'first flush Darjeeling' for the tastiest cuppa ever!

I've seen 'green tea' in a capsule form--Does that have same effect as drinking it?

Having tea in a capsule is like wearing a condom, same effect but not as enjoyable. :o

I actually take a capsule (corresponds to 2-3 cups normally) too as the studies I have seen suggest best effect when drinking 3-5 cups a day and I generally get only 1-2. Cheers!

Can you get them in Thailand? Seen a few health stores here in Chiangmai and will take a look.

GNC has them - but a bit expensive - but also saw local brands (some mixed with chili for increased metabolism I believe) that were very resonably priced. Cheers!

I started drinking green tea when I stopped smoking as i associated coffee with fags. Now I prefer it. I didnt know it has any health benefits though. I'll enjoy drinking it even more now!

One striking effect of drinking green tea in quantity is that your stools go bright green! (and I'm not talking about the ones in your favorite bar...)

  • 2 weeks later...

The most recent studies suggest the health benefits of black and green tea are about the same.

Of course the latest among faddists is white tea, said to be even 'better' than green tea.
