sanpakwan
Please help if you know of a business in town that specialises in mobile phone repairs, i.e. iphone4 screen replacement at reasonable cost. I say reasonable because the genuine apple shops apparently are expensive, probably trying to make up for the losses in this obvious design fault.when it falls out of your pocket in a case bought seperately from a height of 1meter. It still works,( sometimes the other caller can't here me,(normal four iphone)) it's the outer screen that is cracked. I know there are lots of phone shops around, but saving legwork and time would help.local to Chiang mai.
barefoot1988
kad suan kaew, forgot the level but its the level before the cinema. you probably need to walk and explore cause it really confusing out there. its a reasonably sized shop, not big but bigger than the usual mobile stores you see. mrclough
Good luck with taking it to one of the smaller repair shops. You may as well go buy a copy from Burma as that is pretty much what will be returned to you on the inside of your phone. I would take it to the iPhone shop if I were you. Sure it costs more but your phone will be returned with all genuine parts on the inside as well as the outside and your warranty (if it's still under warranty) will remain in tact as it will have been repaired by an authorised repair centre. bristolgeoff
i spoke to the apple shop in the uk about this subject.they said it is easier to change the phone as all the hardware was on the front of the phone.the iphone 3 had all its hardware on the back,so it was easier to change the screen.maybe they can do it goodluck

mrclough
I just used super glue, it has been good for the past 18 months. A good idea but it's not going to help the OP very much if the screen is cracked. Superglue will stick the screen to the phone but it wont fix cracks very well lol
sanpakwan
Thanks for the replies ,I really need a screen replacement rather than a repair. Lots of cracks in the corner 20mm. Point taken about possible robbing the inards. I hope to hear from someone who has successfully replaced a screen.
barefoot1988
i seriously doubt they will swap your internal. whats there to steal? are they going to replace the a5 chip with older a4 or arm a8? those arent even compatible to begin with anyway, there is nothing internal they are able to do a swap without some major work, so they are arent nothing to swap with except the screen that is broken. i change the front, side, back plate from the shop i posted and seen replacement screen. so far so good, alot of users change for aftermarket covers, screen anyway, they are no inferior than the original. why dont you just go and check it out . . its the shop at the level before the cinema with plenty of accessories, they will be bbs turning around in a class cabinet. just walk around you wont miss it out, its one of the bigger mobile accessories shop
PETDCAT
There is a small Mac repair store on Huay Kaew road . If coming from the moat after you pass the Nimmanhaemin intersection it will be on your right hand side. He has fixed my MacBook pro for me when the official Mac repair store told me it would be 30,000 baht for a new motherboard. He opened the case undid the mess they created when they pinched the ribbon cable during their diagnosis and returned it to me in perfect working order for 1000 baht. He has repaired the charging port in my iphone 3gs for about 300 baht. If you cant find Him pm me and I will give you his phone number. I have no affiliation with this shop just passing on a good recommendation for someone that deserves it. cheers

bobl
Answering my own post, for the benefit of any other cnx newbies... Yes - Kad suan kaew is "Central". The logo is distinctly like the Royal Bank of Scotland's. Don't get it confused with Central Airport Plaza. Had a good laugh at myself wandering around lost, while I was standing right next to the glass case with the BB's in it mentioned by the OP. Was impressed with the shop. They had just about every screen known to man in stock, except my 9530 screen... That's where my experience turned a bit crappy... They quoted me 750 baht (very reasonable) and told me they'd need to order it. 5 minutes later he came back and asked "Why you still here?". "Well, I'd like to order one. Don't you need a deposit? Or a phone number to let me know when it's in". I might as well have been speaking Klingon... With the assistance of my tg we asked him again, in Thai. Twice. "Ah... ok ok" he says. He disappeared to serve another customer. 5 minutes later comes back and asks my tg in Thai, "Why are you still here?". She dragged me out of the store muttering "F'ing twit. We'll not come back here". Lol.
