db2012
HI - I;ve been searching for the answer to this question allover the net and can't seem to find it. I am a US citizen wanting to go to Thailand with a 3 Mo. Non O Visa and then apply for the 1 year extension ( spouse visa). Is it true they need to see 400,000 baht in your account to apply for 1 Yr. ext. ? but more importantly, do you have to have 400,000 in your account every time you renew the 1 yr. or is it just for the 1st time. ? i know its a simple question but alot of Visa sites seem to be vague in explaining details like this. Thanks Edited January 21, 2012 by db2012
gregb
Yes every year. The first time you apply for a 1 year extension of stay the money must be in your account for 60 days. Subsequent years it must be in your account for 90 days, although some provinces relax this requirement and apply the 60 day test every year. It is an annual requirement that you will simply learn to tolerate if you move here.
TerryLH
Instead of money in the bank you could use income. 40k baht per month.

Lite Beer
Money in the bank for 60 days every year if using that method. (6) In case of marriage with a Thai lady, the husband who is an alien must have an average annual income of not less than 40,000 baht per month or a money deposit in a local Thai bank of not less than 400,000 baht for the past 2 months for expenses within a year. lopburi3
You extend your stay in Thailand, not a visa. You visit immigration with wife and same paperwork each year during last 30 days of permitted stay and after a 30 day review return to obtain the new one year stamp. TM.7 at price of 1,900 baht.
