Emergency Visa For Wife To Travel To Uk For My Gran'S Funeral

Featured Replies

Hope you can help.

Is there anyway of getting a family visit visa in just a few days? My Gran passed away yesterday and I will be leaving BKK for the funeral. I want my wife to come as she was close to my gran but will not have time to go through the normal process.

She has visited the UK before on family visit visas, who previous 6 month one expired in December.

Is there a way to do this? Can you apply directly to the embassy?

Bob

From what I understand you still have to apply at VFS office as normal, but they do provide an express service for compassionate cases. Copied from UKBA website:

We only accept applications as urgent and compassionate in the following circumstances:

  • serious illness or death of an immediate family member (the applicant's mother, father, brother, sister, husband, wife, son or daughter); or
  • emergency medical treatment which includes people who need to travel with you for support (for example, a parent caring for an ill child)

Sorry to hear about your loss.

Thanks for that. I'd seen something similar. Unfortunately my wife doesn't fit into those criteria as it is my Gran. I wonder if there is anything else I can do?

My condolences on your loss.

It is certainly possible to have your wife's application 'fast tracked' in your circumstances; as this topic shows.
