Dressmaker In Bangkok?

Featured Replies

Can anyone recommend an affordable, dependable seamstress in Bangkok? I know where to go for men's clothes but I have a cousin coming to town and she is looking to have a couple of simple dresses made.

Many thanks for your help!

Hi, Vincent.

Second floor, Ploenchit Center, Hi-Mark Tailors. Ask for Mr. Ken.

Ploenchit Center is next to the Marriott Hotel on Sukhumvit Soi 2.

My wife has had several beautiful silk dresses made there of her own design, and she takes dresses that she purchases elsewhere there to be tailored. Very good service, good pricing, strong customer service ethic. I know the owner quite well, he is a very honorable man.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for this. I had a nice chat with Mr Ken. I think I may have a pair of trousers made, just to see how it goes before my cousin gets here. The only problem I can foresee is the lack of choice of dress material. I know I could take my cousin shopping for fabric too, but finding a good dressmaker who also stocks fabric would be ideal!

I think there are some places ni Siam Center in between Paragon and Siam Discovery that have what look to be very nice tailors with nice fabric. I've never tried it though

This may be to late to help your cousin, but in case it's not, try Tim Tailor on Sukhumvit Soi 14. All the work is done on the premisis and is very very affortable. My GF gets stuff done there all the time and she loves it. They have even done a couple of things for me as well and they turned out very well. The shop doesn't have any materiels on hand but there is a fabric shop just around the corner on Sukhumvit and Asoke. You can find out more about it here. I hope your cousin finds what she is looking for.

Thank you!

The place friends of mine (two ladies) tried in Siam Center produced very mixed results, a decent suit and some really awful dresses, blouses and other pieces. Also they were constantly trying to get us to order more, basically no different from the pushy tailors who produce mediocre work on Sukhumvit, Silom or in malls around town. Without a specific recommendation of a place that produces good work, I am not going to risk it.

Tim's sounds great, and is not far from home. Sadly, I didn't see this in time for my cousin to have something made, but I am definitely hanging on to the address.

Thanks again everyone (including those of you who sent me private messages and recommendations).

My sister tried Tim's on her recent visit and was very impressed. She said it was Hoot of a time and really great value.

Cheers

Thanks for the report sam, did your sister have them copy from photos? or a dress/outfit she already had? or did she go with their own designs?
