Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea In Decline

Recommended Posts

Posted

Once members of the Big 4 club, sadly (for their supporters) they have fallen on hard times.

Liverpool, once the pride of the Premiership is but a shadow of it's glory days (remember those, back in the 80's I think). Arsenal, who were 'the Team on the rise during the 90's / early 2000's but for reasons only known to Arsene Wagner, continue to mix moments of brilliance with equal amounts of hillarity. And Chelsea, the Roman Jose domination of 2005 seems but a distant memory to those conned into buying a Samsung kit.

Use this topic to discuss them at your leisure. Enjoy :)

shock1.gif Who gives a t*ss.

What about the forearm smash to Parkers face.

What about the forearm smash to Kabouls face

What we should be talking about refereeing in decline.....

I'm angry and i'm not gonna take much more of this

LoL Carmine, start your own thread or throw your bitch into the When Arry Met Arry thread..

James, there are more pressing issues than these teams that have actually been in decline for sometime now. Assaults on players and crass offside decisions that seem to be given all too frequently against my team for example. This is not my opinion, its on video and its about time it was used in all matches.

You should start a thread on "Are Man Utd infact in decline but being propped up by Ferguson" Thread Teams playing 37 and 38 year olds are not on the up. Lord alone knows how you'd be doing without Ferguson.

Back on topic, yes those others are all in decline and isn't it great.

I agree about the more pressing issues - Liverpool in decline is hardly a new topic.

I think the whole refereeing issue is out of hand. I cant count the number of games that are now spoilt by refereeing decisions but it has almost gone from 'many' to 'most'. Refs give approximately twice as many red cards a season than they did ten years ago. So part of the problem is that it is all too easy to earn a red card. Also say with Balotelli it is fine to suspend him for future games but it is not of much use to Spurs. Thirdly, even though we have replays and video, they tend to get used selectively. Balotelli was condemned by the video of his foul, Lescott's video I have never seen. Even Suarez, I missed his offense but it doesnt seem to be available on video.

I understand that ref's decisions probably even out over the course of a season but if each match is going to be decided by which way the ref's bad decision falls, it doesnt make them very interesting.

OK so i'm taking the piss somewhat but it is now getting quite ridiculous and something has to be done to help them (refs) out. The modern game is just too fast.

Sorry to go off topic James and if people continue to discuss we'll starting a Referees Thread.

The real problem with this 4 match ban is that we gain nothing from it. A quick decision by a fourth official by video replay would have sent the little shit off immediately.

Video replays from next season are a must in my book. Rather games took an extra 5/10 mins with a fair result.

Liverpool have been mostly crap for 20 years except for one season of good fortune. Oh and Gerrard. Losing Alonso was a major cock up.

Well now it seems that forearm smashes are infact in the premier legal so that one seems all cleared up now.

I would like to see managers punished for trying to get players sent off too but apparently thats ok now too.

Atleast stamping is frowned upon lest a player has his eye taken out by that eccentric bundle of laughs from Italy.

What a joke. I wonder if Lescott was playing for the likes of Wigan or Blackburn whether he'd have gotten away with that one.

Agreed but i don't think it's gonna happen for some time.

As for games taking longer, i seriously don't think they will. A lot of the nonsense that wastes time now would be stamped out (pardon the topical pun) because players would know that they couldn't get away with it.

Players like Joleon Lescott?

Well, his forearm smash didn't exactly waste time, so not a good example of how video technology will speed things up as much as it slows things down, but he would have been red carded and that would have been justice.

Taking action after the event, like has happened with Balotelli, is all well and good but it is more likely to serve a benefit to the teams that City face in the next four games, whilst doing nothing to redress the balance with Spurs or with Parker.

I'd have thought Parker quite content if the knowledge he still has his eyesight. And i just loved Mario's look of concern and sympathy. What a laugh a minute he really is! clap2.gif

i liked the way he did that old trick players sometimes do, when just having done something idiotic and red card worthy, of feigning injury. A pathetic attempt to illicit sympathy and perhaps sway the ref into thinking, "he can't be the bad guy in all this, as he is injured too".

The wasting time argument is grossly overplayed.

1) With video replays you will save time because players will not try and get away with stupid things that they can do now

2) And far more importantly, if players are not sent off when they should be, or sent off when they shouldnt, you are effectively wasting everybody's time for the remains of the match in terms of watching a full and fair result.

3) Most sports - tennis, rugby, golf etc - are not subject to the whim of the referee. So why should football? The very fact that the average football supporter can name half a dozen referees clearly shows there importance in the game is far more than it should be.

I've seen it argued that Man U have bankrupted the club in order to win trophies and it will all come down like a pack of cards in the end, which is certainly one short term way to get success. post-4641-1156694572.gif

Oh please dont make up garbage. The accusation against the Glaziers is that thy lumbered he team with too much debt so they couldnt spend enough.

Their debt in 2009 was 700m

You are correct red, my mistake ;), carmine the only reason I didn't include the spurs in here because as you know, or should know, you need to win something in order to qualify - how can you decline if you never inclined, or were inclined to do so.

Hardly trolling when it is just the facts migsy wink.png

Its also a b*llocks thread wink.png

Give it a rest carmsy or I might start a topic called "the nearlies-starring the cocks with no rocks" ;)

Look the historic facts are these. Between 1973 and 1990 Liverpool came no lower than second in the league. Between 1990 and 2012 Liverpool have never one the league and come second twice. So, on that basis decline is self-evident. And if you read the 300 pages of the Liverpool thread you will see that it mostly consists about how when I was a juvenile, we were quite good, and are now currently crap.

Personally, if you wish to state the obvious try 'Maggie will be dead soon' 'Madonnas husband is heterosexual''cross dressing is biopolar not the same as bi-sexual'

facts or no facts aside. any reason why it cant be discussed on existing threads?

its trolling cos you are upset theres a ManU in decline thread, and now think there should be ones for others too

I would have closed the ManU decline thread too (HONEST whistling.gif ) but I only just saw it around..same time I saw this one....

thats an old thread...this one is new....

but as said, I wasnt in a place to close then...and now its run to 2 pages...mostly with off topic posts biggrin.png

but hey...Ill let the other mods decide. as otherwise I might be questioned on conflict of interest laugh.png

The OP should be facing a long ban migsy...even if the thread remains open. Look how many posters he's dissed...

Arse 2...Chelski 1....Liverpool 3 who are willing to post when they lose...clap2.gif

Edit: OK I'll give you three but he is just waiting for Leeds to be promoted......

Haha migsy-you sound more like arsene everyday!

Let's make a deal, you wind down that obvious troll topic from years gone by and I will stop winding you up by pointing out the facts - as for smokes, if its made of wood, it must be a duck, therefore its lighter than a witch-ban him!
