PM Yingluck Forced To Speak To Virtually Empty Seminar Room

So why did everyone who was invited not show up? Are there no gentlemen left in Thailand? It's very bad form to abandon a lady in distress.

Because Dusit Thani's finger food buffet during a conference's coffee break is not anymore what it used to be.

I can't help but not feel sorry for her! Hahahaha

Once again, it just goes to show how incompetant she and her people are. Couldn't they have standyed some seat fillers? I mean if no one was there like 30 minutes before she was supposed to take the stage, they should have known then and there. It's not like it wasn't expected that people didn't want to listen to her babble on about something she has very little knowledge off in the first place.

I'm confident that picture was taken during the actual speech.

The Thai audience that is usually fills up the seats at such events isn't known for being an enthusiastic audience or to show at least any kind of emotion or facial expression that would give a speaker feedback. Talking to 400 empty seat is easier and more relaxed compared with how alienated you will feel as speaker when you ave have to look into 400 empty faces.

... hosted by the Economic Reporters Association. would have been their job to fill up the seats, send out the invitation and make sure the people come. No one goes to these events out of true interest or voluntary like you would go to a concert or the cinema. Its all organized, gives hotels a business, mini bus drivers a job to pick office teams up and office worker a welcome change from looking out of the window all day and stay motionless behind the desk and shuffle some papers now and than. + free buffet and group photos with others standing around one 'high profile attendant'.

The Economic Reporters Association failed to do their job as host. Was it in a spirit of mischief or just fail? Those tasked to organize the event were probably just "temporary employees".

While waiting for Buchholz to respond, let's have another example of Yingluck's shining diplomatic and reasoning skills in action during a public forum:

Days could be spent studying the many layers in her response...

She's such a freaking airhead and her English sucks ass. There's nothing wrong with having bad English, use a translater. I mean a lot of head of governments use translaters. But she, nooooo. She goes out there and embarasses herself with her lack of knowledge and her crappy English. Shames herself, shames the country. Only the idiot hardcore Red Shirt/Big brother lovers have thick enough skins to defend her.

Actually there is something a little wrong with that, if on your CV you have that your Master's degree was studied in English. If not wrong, certainly baffling.

I think her English speech actually reflects her thought processes. Even if you edited those "thoughts" the sentences would still be totally inane.

the seminar room was virtually empty, leaving white linen covered chairs unoccupied.

Accounts from reporters at the scene indicate that Prime Minister Yingluck became increasingly agitated, frequently asking whether or not the seminar room was close to being full.

Does the PM need glasses? unsure.png

.

Perhaps when one becomes so accustomed to being told what to think, what to say, and being told what to do, one develops a need, as a further extension of that, to be told what one is seeing.

'And the Emperor asked "Is this not a fine audience? Does it not fill the room with its splendour?" And the advisors cried "Oh yes great one, it is the finest audience money can buy. It is exceeded in its vastness only by your command of the English language". And the Emperor found it good, until one little TAN reporter nudged his colleague and remarked "but the Emperor has no audience".'

From "The Emperor's new audience", modern fairytales for children.

I'm not sure if this was said during the meeting of the OP, but the other newspaper says the PM spoke of a V-shape growth for this year. Makes you wonder where on that V-shape we are at the moment.

Anyway, regarding the OP it's good the PM already planned to go out and meet the locals

Is that V-shape something like economic cleavage? Surprised it didn't draw a bigger crowd. If only we'd known.

i know it sounds old fashion, but it clearly show what a charade this whole political arena is.

surely if a PM shows up the least one can do is show some respect, red or yellow.

i am afraid that in her unfortunate case it turned out to be red and blue.

realy disgraceful

No, the Economic Reporters Association let the REAL story play out, and then reported it.

Rather than 'MANIPULATE THE STORY' as you suggest, just to be 'good hosts'.

Sorry that is not reporting, that is propaganda creation, you expect them to do.

I am sure most no-shows thought someone else would be there and they would not be missed... Seems most all came to that same conclusion; We have better things to do.

Now this is becoming really scary. As I watched the clip of her speaking, I was thinking it reminded me of the famous bumbling response of the contestant for Miss Teen America. And then lo and behold, a few posts later, someone posted the very same clip !!! Nice job. As far as her English skills, I think she should demand her money back from the university that actually gave her a diploma.....
