Where Chang Mai-Ens Go For Visa Runs?

Featured Replies

Politics and geography notwithstanding, I really don't know. Any help?

PS Sorry about the missing "do" in the thread title. Been reading too many Bangkok English-mangling shirts, I guess.

Why do you need to know if you are based in BKK?

How much do you want to spend?

What sort of visa are you currently on?

Do you want to make it a holiday as well as a visa-run?

Give us more details if you want some helpful advice.

Mae Sai for the "leaving the country to activate the next visa" run and Vientiane for acquiring a new visa.

Normally to the nearest border.

KL for visas and Mae Sai for border runs as stated above.

My fiance is Filipino, and makes runs. We are thinking about moving to Chang Mai. She has a tourist visa, and makes a Cambodia run every two weeks from BKK.

Wow... a run to Cambodia every 2 weeks would get old real fast, I suspect... Not particularly cheap, either... From Chiang Mai she'd likely go to Mae Sai - a pleasant enough experience, now and then. But again, every 2 weeks would get old real fast...

Seems like a stupid thing to do, to fly somewhere and simply turn round and come back, but with tickets for $150-ish that's a far more civilised way and get 30 days at a time, to boot... Assuming a Filipino can get 30 days?

If I was in that position with no alternative, I'd move to Chiang Rai, not Chiang Mai.
