Love Thailand Party Inner Rifts Emerge

BANGKOK: -- The Love Thailand Party leader claims that the MP status of his former party secretary general has been put to an end

Love Thailand Party Leader Chuwit Kamolvisit held a press conference yesterday at his party's headquarters, where he announced that the Love Thailand Party secretary-general Chaiwat Krairerk resigned from his position on January 11.

He said his party has evidence, including photos to indicate that Chaiwat willingly stepped down from his post.

Chuwit also said his party forwarded the issue to the Election Commission.

Chuwit said Chaiwat is entitled to clarify the truth to the EC.

Chuwit threatened to hand a video clip to the National Anti-Corruption Commission or NACC on February 8.

He pointed out that Chaiwat confessed that he abused his power by pressuring the state sector to construct a new road in front of his house.

Chuwit said Chaiwat violated Article 168 of the Constitution that prohibits an MP to do anything, directly or indirectly, for his own interests.

Chuwit said said that Chaiwat, in the recent censure debate, defended Justice Minister Pracha Promnok for his role as the director of the Flood Relief Operations Center, or FROC.

At that time, Chaiwat claimed he unintentionally supported Pracha.

Nevertheless, Chuwit said Chaiwat would like to be the Pheu Thai Party MP candidate for Nakhon Si Thammarat Province.

Chuwit said Chaiwat is following in the footsteps of Pheu Thai Party list MP for Nakhon Si Thammarat, Jatuporn Prompan.

In the meantime, Chaiwat conceded that he stepped down from his position as secretary-general, but that he still remains a party member and an MP as of now, and that he handed over necessary documents to the EC for further investigation.

Additionally, Chaiwat noticed officials from the Dusit Police Station accused Chuwit of defamation, as he falsely convinced the public that Chaiwat was involved in corruption.

This guy is crazy, back home he would have been "erased" already... BUT... We have no real change without crazy people, do we?

I applaud his craziness. Thailand and most of the 3rd world countries need this.

I think they missed that bit out in the copy I got.

I think it's a little far fetched to call this a "party inner rift."

However if PT would apply the same ethical standards the last standing MP would have to turn down the light!

EC may consider status of Rak Prathet Thai MP

BANGKOK: -- Election Commission member Sodsri Sattayatham said Monday that the EC may consider status of Rak Prathet Thai party-list MP Chaiwat Krairirk after the party leader claimed he has resigned.

Rak Prathetthai leader Chuwit Kamolvisit has claimed that Chaiwat had resigned as a party member and had signed a resignation. But Chaiwat argued that he had not resigned so he still had a status of an MP.

Sodsri said the EC would consider during its meeting on Tuesday whether to set up a committee to investigate the issue.
