1St Time Retirement Visa

i am not sure now if i screwed up or not.

going back.

november 2 2011 i entered thailand on a 60 day tourist visa

december 15 2011 i went to immigration to apply for a retirement visa

immigration then gave me a non immigrant visa. there is stamp next to the non immigrant stamp that says phuket immigration, visa class dated dec 15 2011, admitted 14 march 2012.

the retirement stamp is dated until march 14, 2013 (when it expires), then immigration officer signature dated december 15, 2011.

i am trying to recall that the immigration officer told me to report before the march 14th 2012. is this correct? or am i already late reporting becasue i entered thailand on november 2nd 2011?

this is the first retirement and non immigrant that i have gotten.

any help or answers greatly appreciated.

it looks as though u should have done a visa trip on 1st feb,but maybe your new o visa over rided that,i would check at immigration if i were u,sure they will put u in the right direction.

it seems the next thing you have to do is a 90 day report, have they put this date in your passport underneath the extension stamp.

Immigration converted your tourist visa and gave you the retirement extension at the same time. Since the first application for retirement (but only the first) also counts as a 90 day report, your next 90 day report is due 90 days after the 15th December.

So don't worry, you have to report between two weeks before and one week after the 14th March. But note that the "one week after" only applies if you report in person not by mail.

As said above you are fine and just need to start doing the 90 day address reports using TM.47 on the 14th.

This get fell upon goof luck as he unknowling got a good time frame. Somebody run by the issues with the Renentry permit for the OA v the rentry permit from and extrension of stay from the OA. Can someone author a good stickey and refer to that. People don't realize that thedir OA can be good for 2 years before needing to apply to get a extension of stay an renenty for that one!

I don't think so. Re-read the OP's post. I think that they converted his tourist visa to an Non-O and gave him 90 days permission to stay which expires on 14 March. They did not automattocally extend his Non-O for one year and 14 March is not his 90 day report date it is the expiration of his permission to stay. He has to go back during the last 30 days of his permission to stay and apply for a 1 year extension for retirement purposes. He must resubmit all of the paperwork including financials and pay an additional 1900 baht. He doesn't mention any stamp that extends his stay until 14 December 2012!

I know it is not perfectly clear but looks to me like he has a 12 Month Extension of Stay that ends March 14th 2013.

March 14, 2012 is the expiration of his 90 day Non-O and they extended it 1 year until March 14, 2013. His first 90 day report is March 14, 2012 also. Got it, in "brain fart mode" today..

The key is below - he obtained a one year extension of stay on December 15th. The March 14th date was the non immigrant visa entry expiration date - and extension is from that date.

I guess, but what is the 14 March 2012 stamp? I've never heard of them stamping your passport with a 90 day report date. I guess that if the OP paid 3900 baht (2000 for conversion and 1900 for extension) it's correct, but if he only paid 2000 then someting's amiss.

I agree,none of the ops info makes sense. You cannot get an extension of stay stamped retirement off a anything but an OA??? BTW, I was asked to join the Immi Vol's recently. Perm spot at the Chlong Pier One Stop! Not going to do it!

You can get a retirement extension of stay from a non immigrant visa entry - it does not have to be any specific type. I dare say most are not obtained from an O-A entry.

As stated above, his application for conversion was his first 90 day report. He must report 90 days after.

I had a pleasant surprise at my last 90 day reporting. No need to fill out the form, it is now computersied. Just had to pass over my Passport containing the 90 report form from the previous report. The young Officer entered my details on her computer, asked me to confirm my address and then printed out the new form, tore off the bottom section stapled it into my Passport and I was done. All with a smile as well. Mind you I must say that all my dealings with Korat Immigration is always very pleasant, happy smiling and efficient staff. Makes me feel welcomed
