Where Has Orchid Butter Gone

Featured Replies

Can't find it anywhere. Does anyone know why?

I appreciate the BKK floods have affected some goods but if they can make yoghurt why not butter?

Thats my brand also..... I use it in 5 K blocks and have had to settle for a couple bloks of brand x and brand yamakawahonda garbage.... just does not serve as butter ..... have a sweet stench to them.

Just found a blok of Allowrie which I have used before but prefer the Orchid.

And where's the Mocano Blue Montain (blue box) coffee all gone?

A week ago bought some at Yok Bakery Supplies on Super Highway, they had quiet

a bit in stock,

Makro has no had any for what seems months now, blame it on the floods ??, like

everything else.

Can anyone enlighten me on this, what is the difference between

Orchid Butter, Orchid Classic Butter, and the last lot I seen was

called Orchid Blended Butter, blended? what with?

regards Worgeordie, PS Orchid has been my butter of choice

for years, the others seem to have a slightly off smell ,even when fresh

I don´t know Orchid butter, but will certainly give it a try, if I should find it.

Blended butter is butter mixed with a percentage (normally 25-50%) vegetable oil, in order to make it more soft and spreadable immediately from the fridge. Vegetable oil is also cheaper than butter made from milk.

I recommend staying away from the "blended or spread" as , to me , it is pretty horrible..... I have the better part of 2 - 5Kilo bloks that we in other ways than direct onto the food use. I learned the hard way.

As just a point, if buying the 5 K block of butter, I suggest going to Yok Store , if available, as it is considerably cheaper than Makro..... around 100 baht cheaper. Same goes for the Allowrie 81 slice cheddar cheese. Don't know why the big difference...... Not a good idea , economically if just going for 1 item, but if you have other needs, could be worth your while.

Now that you mention it, I miss both Orchid butter and Moccona Blue Mountain. My local Tops was so empty for so long, I'd forgotten about both. I was at a Lotus in Bangkok two weeks back and didn't see the coffee: bought the house brand instead. I didn't look for butter there, but was amazed they had no Bio yogurt in stock.

One Orchid butter is with salt, the other without. And then a blended Orchid as already described. If some of you like real butter, you should go for the Danish Lurpak butter which normally is available in Tops and Rimping. Maybe other plazes too. The only butter with real taste.
