A Finn Caught With a 9 mm Czech Gun in a Pattaya Beer-Bar

PATTAYA:-- Pattaya police arrested a Finnish citizen in a beer-bar who was carrying a 9 mm pistol at his waist. A good citizen saw the armed foreigner and notified the police.

Pattaya, February 12, 2012 [PDN]: Pol.Lt.Col. Pongrapee Loysai-or, Banglamung police station and Pol.Snr.Sgt.Maj. Chatchai Rakkwamshorp arrested Mr. Kai “Moski” Koski, age, 58 Finnish citizen in possession of a Czech CZ 75d, automatic 9 mm pistol, five cartridges and a leather holster. No registration, no license.

Mr. Koski was arrested in beer-bar named “Barbie” in 209/22 Soi Khaotalo, M10, Banglamung, Chonburi. The police could arrest the suspect because a good citizen in the beer-bar saw a foreigner with tattooed arms carrying a gun.

It is a fallacy among some foreigners that just because something like a gun, a large knife, a stun-gun, a police radio or a police badge are easily bought here then it is OK to have them without licences or proper permissions. Common sense alone would say that it isn't OK and Thai law certainly says so.

And I doubt that even in Finland he would be allowed either.
