Motorbike driver killed in Jomtien after collision with stationary vehicle

PATTAYA:--A motorbike driver was killed in a road accident on the Sukhumvit Road in Jomtien in the early hours of Thursday.

Police and Rescue Services were called to the crash scene, outside of a 7-Eleven convenience store on the corner of Soi Greenway. Close to a damaged Black Chevrolet pick-up was the body of Khun Anaegshart aged 26, next to his badly damaged motorbike.

Police were told the pick-up was parked outside the store when the motorbike slammed into the rear of the pick-up at a high rate of speed. Police suspect the driver may have been intoxicated

That junction is deadly with cars frequently double parking outside the 7-11 blocking the inside lane,to avoid the need to walk 20-30 extra metres to the store. Vehicles pulling out of Soi Greenway often have to move into the fast moving centre lane traffic to avoid the badly parked vehicles. I certainly wouldn't assume that the blame in this instance should fall fully on the unfortunate motorcyclist.

Condolences to his family.
