babababor
have just bought a house and would like to have a 30 year lease agreement on the chanote. The housing estate office have indicated this will cost 3000bt+ PER MONTH. A visit to the land office confirmed this I think the 2 are acting in cahoots Don't reallt wish to use a lawyer, but a friendly lawyer told me I could arrange it mysel;f at the land office for a total once onlyfee of around 3/5000 Any info please Nick
pnustedt
have just bought a house and would like to have a 30 year lease agreement I guess you want a lease agreement on the house to ensure that you have security of tenure in the event of your wife's death? If so, I think that you really should employ a lawyer to arrange the lease and a will. Maybe there is a misunderstanding with the land and estate office - perhaps they are talking about the normal lease value of the property?

JimGant
The the 3/5000 figure is in the ballpark for a very nice home. At 3000bt/mo rental, this would come out over 30 years to:1,080,000bt. And the 2% of this you would have to pay the landoffice comes out to: 21,600bt. Way too much. A lawyer could cost you 10,000bt; but if you find one who can guarantee the 3/5000 figure, or better, obviously it's better than what you curretnly have. But first, I'd tiptoe back to the landoffice, approach someone other than the first guy, and see what you can "arrange" with him. Just ask him what's the lowest legal rental figure for your particular property. As we found out, it is hugely lower than the real market rental value. Good luck.
