Sukampol: No war room against coup

BANGKOK: Defence Minister Gen Sukampol Suwannathat on Monday denied that Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra had ordered the establishment of a war room to counter any coup attempt.

Sukampol said Yingluck did not order him to set up a war room to direct red-shirt mass rallies against coups.

Sukampol added that had he been given a secret order to set up a war room, the Asia Times would not have learnt about the order.

Quoting military sources familiar with the situation, Asia Times Online reported that "Sukampon Suwannathat is quietly planning to activate a new war room to direct mass pro-government 'red-shirt' demonstrations planned for the coming months.

"The war room, created at the direction of fugitive former premier Thaksin Shinawatra, will become operational by June."

While Sukampol denied that he had received the order from Yingluck, the Asia Times quoted the same military sources as saying that Thaksin ordered Yingluck be kept in the dark about the war room's creation so that she could honestly deny its existence if questioned by the press.

"I've not met the prime minister for days and I believe there will be no coup," Sukampol said.

Sukampol said he did not have to talk to military leaders about the coup speculation because he and the military leaders did not mistrust each other.

"Please stop talking about coup because it does not bode well for the country. This kind of reporting must stop so that the country can move forward," Sukmapol said.

So, if it was a secret order, Asia Times wouldn't know about it. Asia Times know about it, so it wasn't a secret order.

He denies Yingluck ordered it, but the original article says the Yingluck was being kept in the dark, so of course she didn't order it.

The question he should be answering is, Is there a war room being set up (or already set up) to direct red-shirt mass rallies against coups, or against anything else?

Hmmmm isnt Pheu Thai Party MP Jatuporn Phromphan and Robert Amsterdam the main protagonists claiming a coup is imminent?

I thought Yingluck was supposed to have been kept in the dark? I know women can't keep a secret but that's ridiculous!

Spot on. Saying Yingluck did not order it (as supposedly ordered by her brother) is like saying the recent bombers were not from Alaska. No one accused them of being from Alaska.

But was that the question he was actually asked???

PM did not order 'war room' against coup: Sukumpol

THE NATION

BANGKOK: -- Defence Minister General Sukumpol Suwanathat yesterday denied that Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra had ordered the establishment of a "war room" to counter any coup attempt.

Sukumpol said Yingluck did not order him to set up a "war room" to direct mass red-shirt rallies against coups.

The minister said if he had been given a secret order to set up a "war room", the Asia Times website would not have learnt about it.

Quoting military sources familiar with the situation, Asia Times Online reported that "Sukumpol Suwanathat is quietly planning to activate a new war room to direct mass pro-government 'red-shirt' demonstrations planned for the coming months.

Not to mention that, since 115% of the population clearly supports PTP and the Chosen One, there is no-longer any justification, for permitting anyone to disagree or comment negatively on their actions, as their pre-election commitments unravel.

Anyone would think that these 'coup-istas', as Right-Thinking instructs us to call them, thought that they were living in a democracy, or something. Perish the idea ! cool.png

Somehow this explaination fits with the

"The war room, created at the direction of fugitive former premier Thaksin Shinawatra, will become operational by June, the same sources say. The senior military sources say that Thaksin, who lives in self-exile in the United Arab Emirates, ordered that Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, his younger sister, be kept in the dark about the war room's creation so that she may honestly deny its existence if questioned by the press."

Perhaps this is something to do with the officers of the Royal Thai navy and should read Ward Room, not War Room! OK just a thought jap.gif

Actually there can't be a war room because there isn't going to be a coup.

We promised not to do it again.

And so say all us.....................
