I may be flying direct to Chiang Mai but if there is a place in BKK etc I'd stop there for a day or so to pick one up. VAT refund is about 4-5000 Baht on MBAir if you exit from an airport with correct refund documentation. A friend of mine did that, he just entered their student info, school name and address and was able to get the discount. Thailand, HK, Singapore etc. Just order it as per a normal order on the education store. No additional information required. If you really want a huge saving. Order from education store from Apple HongKong online store and get it delivered to shipito.com in HK. Saved about 8000THB on the Thai price on a macbook Pro 15" doing it this way. They are authorized reseller and in any bigger city in Thailand. In Chiang Mai you can find them at Central Airport Plaza.
