February 20, 201214 yr I currently nave an Non O extension based on employment and a work permit, I have had both for 5 years now. I am married to a Thai and our marriage is registered. I am not sure how much longer I will be working but I do plan to stay in Thailand once my employment ends. I understand I need to have 400k in a bank account in my name. Is it allowable to have a joint bank account with my wife in the amount of 800k? I also understand that my extension of stay and work permit will end once my employment ends and I need to leave in 24 hrs. Can I procure a Non O based on marriage while in Bangkok if I have all the conditions met and avoid leaving Thailand in the 24 hr timeframe? If not would it be advisable to change my current Non O based on employment now to a Non O based on marriage and keep my work permit based on my employment?
February 21, 201214 yr It depends on the office if they will allow a joint account. Best is to get an account in your name with 400,000 in it. These extensions need aproval from BKK and are under heavy scrutiny. It only needs to be in their for 2 months before you apply for an extension. Than you can transfer it back to the joint account.
February 21, 201214 yr You likely can get 60 day extension (to visit wife) if they will not allow use of joint account for the marriage extension.
