Khao Facchi To Thon Pla

Featured Replies

Many years ago I took the road from Khao Facchi (North of Ranong) direction La Un and further to Thon Pla.

I had to cross about five rivers. (No bridges) Quite adventurous, with flat tire, and absolutely no traffic.

I wonder if anybody has taken this road lately, and if the road is better now.

Thanks

I live in La-un. There is a road from the South side of the bridge to La-Un. Going over the hill it get's a bit curvy, and you have to be careful on the blind corners. For a small road it gets some heavy loads. It's about 16km from there to La-Un, or once in Bang Na, you can take a right and go to Ranong.

If you go towards La-Un, you go over a hill, drop down the other side. After you pass the Amphur's office look for a left turn, that will take you off to Chumpon. I remember taking the Honda 125 to photograph the hole at Khao Thalu. The road was not tarmaced then. On the way back home the skies opened. The mud was 6" deep. I offered my step daughter 1000 Baht to clean it, and she turned it down.
