Years ago there was a place to stay called Louie's Tavern inside the international airport at Don Muang. Anyone know if it's still around?

Was it a pub like place where smoking was allowed?

Never been in there but don't remember seeing it recently (maybe because my flights depart from the other side of the terminal).

I think still there, but really not sure.

Used to be inside, i.e. after passing through departure immigration.

Terminal 1, go up escalators. It's a pub, but doubt they allow smoking nowadays.

BTW, Louis Tavern as well handles a couple of VIP-lounges. You can buy ticket or be invited by your travel agent/airline.

Meanwhile LT as well runs a 3* hotel not far from Don Muang at Vibhavadhi Rangsit Road/Chang Wattana Road.

The dayrooms operated by Louis' Tavern, with two locations airside, are currently in operation, reservations are advised as they are sometimes full (22:00 - 06:00). The rooms are a bit dodgy, according to first-hand written reports I've read.

Louis’ Tavern Airline Lounges .

The airlines as well as Louis’ Tavern have their own lounges in the departing areas of the International Passenger Terminal 1 and 2.

I used to have a lounge access "Priority card"thingy from an outfit called the interantional airline passsengers asociation which runs a programme of bag recovery and insurance cover.

They had different levels of membership and with some you got so many visits a year for free and then pay...or a combination. The one I had gave me access to all of their lounges worldwide and in Bangkok it was the L.T.

The one I used mostly was in in the No 1 departure lounge and is downstairs.

It was a sort of OK place with Sarnies, cakes, snacks for scrounging on with a free bar (not 2 bad)and a reasonable size lounge area with loads of TV sets, newspapers magazines etc.

There was also another one on Term 2 -upstairs.

I gave up the card when it hit something like £250 a year... :o

Also at the time I had a China Air Gold card as well so always tried to visit their lounge as well.Good for Amsterdam which had a choice of 3 gin joints.

Now me and the wife both got the Thai Air Rocki Club Gold so will stick to the Star Alli places in future.

Looking forward to the new ones at Suwanna... :D
