I will be here three weeks and would rather not wait till I go back to the states. Also typical repair pricing would be appreciated

Tukom is your best bet. They do everything there and very cheap to.

Jump on a motorbike taxi from anywhere and they will bring you for less than 100baht

An authorised dealer is on the ground floor. They will ship you mobile to bkk. (it will take take a week or two) On the first floor is a place called Happy Mobile (red sign). They specialize in smart phones and may fix it within a day or so.Happy Mobile opens really late, around 2 p.m. or so.

I am mostly concerned that they are qualified to do this type of repair. I guess I will go there and talk to them.

A repair gone wrong would be a minor disaster while I'm traveling.

I had my I touch repaired a couple of weeks ago, 2nd floor Tkom. I even asked the wife to go in so she would get the best price.

Fixed in a couple of days total cost 3,000 baht. Seems expensive but the cost is down to the LCD display unit.

More like an authorized reseller which I mention in bitterness as they overcharge by about 5,000 baht for the new Iphone 4S.
