I'll shortly be going to Savannakhet on a visa run and have heard that Laos immigration are forcing people to pay the gazetted US $ rate in Thai Baht at an inflated rate of 1500 Baht and are refusing to accept US $'s.

I have also heard of a 50 Baht fee for a so called travel tax,is this official.

Anyone out there have any recent experiences at this border crossing.
