Was great you could make it out on such short notice and I hope you made it back in time for the gf's B-day! Great pics my man! Get yourself some leathers and hope to see you on the grid for the next MiniGP which I believe will take place on Saturday May 5th! Let the Good Times ROLL! Tony
BigBikeBKK Posted March 3, 2012 Author Posted March 3, 2012 For those of you who's feelings were hurt by my "Honda CB'r' Bowling" thread last week, you should check out Karl's pics from today's Kawasaki MiniGP- it was pandemonium!!! ER6n highside (in brand new leathers)- He walked away completely unscathed, but his bike is looking a bit ragged... Ready to race! 650 race start- I just couldn't get past this guy! >.< This was the closest I came to passing him... >.< Almost!!!! dam_n- he got me at the chicane >.< Dogged him like this till the end of the race, but just couldn't get past him! >.< Brilliant FUN!
newf Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Was hoping to get down and watch but got pulled away to work. Looks like a load of crashes though.
karlos Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 I'm going to have to find out how to upload directly to TV like you do Tony, the pictures you copied from my Facebook look grainy as hell but i'm glad you liked the shots and posted them here. Next time i hope to ride but if i don't have my leathers and sticky rubber i'll be a camera man again, only this time i'll bring my girlfriend and an umbrella so i can move around the track, rather than standing under the shade
KarlHatton Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Looks like I bought a bike with 400cc's too many !! The racing looks good and I wouldn't mind having a go... When is the next one (I'll try and go as a spectator)? A caption comp would be good on some of the crash pics
karlos Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 The next meeting is on the 5th of May, i think at the same track, Tony will be along soon to confirm
BigBikeBKK Posted March 7, 2012 Author Posted March 7, 2012 The next meeting is on the 5th of May, i think at the same track, Tony will be along soon to confirm Yep, that's correct, the next MiniGP will take place on May 5th. Hope to see you there! T
BigBikeBKK Posted March 7, 2012 Author Posted March 7, 2012 (edited) Some more pics from the 650 race Ford on the starting grid with his 2012 Ninja 650: Hunter from Chiang Mai- Yours truly Race start- Tight twisty track- a lot of work! Track is ROUGH in spots- I've got Ford in my sights Hunter and Kwan, headed for 1st and 2nd place- I'm gonna get you Ford! Hunter held on to the lead for the entire race, with Kwan close behind him- This hairpin is tough- can you see the big holes? Only one crash in the 650 race and Khun Mann was fine, though his bike was looking a bit knackered! Good job guys! Edited March 10, 2012 by sbk photos removed- copyright violations
BigBikeBKK Posted March 8, 2012 Author Posted March 8, 2012 Really like this pic that Barry Russel took during the Ninja 250R Modify-class race:
karlos Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Can anyone take photos out in the middle of the track? I wasn't sure if i was allowed to go out there..
BigBikeBKK Posted March 8, 2012 Author Posted March 8, 2012 Can anyone take photos out in the middle of the track? I wasn't sure if i was allowed to go out there.. TiT- anything goes! (but don't complain if you get bit by a snake - it's a jungle out there!)

CanInBKK Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 For "non competition" i.e. casual lapping of the track, what are the safety ger requirements? Mesh jacket and reinforced jeans or are we talking full leathers only?
newf Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 For "non competition" i.e. casual lapping of the track, what are the safety ger requirements? Mesh jacket and reinforced jeans or are we talking full leathers only? Its really up to you what safety gear you wear. No real requirements, seen lots of guys riding with just jeans, Jacket and gloves.
BigBikeBKK Posted March 8, 2012 Author Posted March 8, 2012 (edited) For "non competition" i.e. casual lapping of the track, what are the safety ger requirements? Mesh jacket and reinforced jeans or are we talking full leathers only? If you're talking about the BRC there are really no requirements whatsoever for regular track days. No medical staff either. Just be aware that if you get hurt and don't have any friends along you're pretty much on your own... When there are scheduled events, such as Kawasaki MiniGP, then it's the event organizers who determine the rules regarding what gear is required. All scheduled track events I've been to have had medical staff on hand and some rules regarding gear. For MiniGP the rules are pretty lax- if I remember correctly you only need a full face helmet, jacket, gloves and closed toe footwear. Of course better gear is certainly encouraged, but like Colin said, it's not unusual to see guys racing the KSR110's in jeans and tennis shoes. Armor over jeans is still pretty common- Over the last few years that I've been participating in these events I've noticed more and more participants wearing better gear. On a different tangent- how about those D-Tracker lean angles!? Edited March 10, 2012 by sbk photos removed- copyright violations
