Hello fellow members.

Been visiting this site for a number of years now, but never really got posting topics...so here goes.

Had my mother and sister in Thailand (Pattaya) for their first ever visit which they enjoyed immensely.....but i have to comment on the number of times we encountered awful service in nearly all of the restaurants i took them to. firstly i understand the Thai,s barely understand English at the best of times, but to get order after order wrong, and in some cases forgotten meals is not right. I was embarrassed.

If you are in the service industry customer service is the Golden rule...or else they will not return, thankfully after a few days they almost joked that this is normal to get your order wrong.

Am i right ????

comments appreciated.

in my view Thailand and Thai companies are not service oriented at all,

not one of their priorities

have been to most countries in the world (several times) over the past 30 years,

in my view the only experience that matches Thailand is the lack of service

with which I was met in USSR and Eastern Europe before the break up of USSR

Your so much in the wrong place!!! What make you choose Pattaya?

Pattaya is rarely representative for Thailand and you can compare it

to going to a fun park. Unfortunately the wrong one for you, Pattaya

is not at all about service, it's about a lot of other things and can be thrilling

if your open for it. It's certainly not a outpost of western culture...

When I read the OP and the others negative comments, I can only conclude that I must live in a different Thailand.

I van give you dozens of examples of superb service, be it in restaurants, repair shops or home repairs. .

And I live in Bangkok metropolis.

btw Thai people call Pattaya, Farangland.

I am not sure that differences in views on LoS and service is down to spending ones time

in different LoSs, I think its more down to having different views on what constitutes good service, or service as such.

My comment wasn't really intended to be negative as such, it was more an expression of how I

perceive the service concept in Thailand, Thai companies, Thai government etc.

However, the lack of service is not a problem for me and does not annoy me the least.

When I meet the nil-service attitude it is something I look at with amusement.

I wonder if it will improve after the introduction of the free(er) market in 2015.

h7eds said : ..or else they will not return

Ok

Good bye

Maybe you should read the topic in its entirety before posting non-meaning extracts.

The no return refers to service in general indicating customers will not return.

It takes many good deeds to win customers but more often than not one bad deed will loose the customer forever.- Why is this important - simply without customers a business will cease to function.cowboy.gif

Good servic/bad service more often than not No Service which adds up to no ownership and no foresight.

Try shopping in some larger stores plenty of staff very reluctant in the main to deal with the "farang" (scared of having to converse in English) sometimes justifyably so as that "farang" displays no tolerance - but then again this can be understood if you have ever tried to buy the last item on the shelf - stock answer "none left" question what about this one - answer no not for sale ???

Dont think its just a problem with understanding English....Mrs Soutpeel is Thai and orders in Thai, and at times the same things happen, forget orders/get it wrong..think it boils down to the mai pen rai attitude towards customers service...followed by a silly little grin

Surprising to me. I've always found service in TL far outshines that in the west. There's always exceptions, but in general, its more often good than not. Could it be the places you were dining in? Usually get what you pay for.

As for taking mom and sis to Pats for their first visit, hmmm...

Glad they had fun.

I found it very interesting that especially with takeaway....you must always check the meal you order. I found it interesting when they try to pass off something that's not even close to what you ordered or blatantly incorrect....even good restaurants you have relationship with.

Nobody likes being cheated.
