This is probably a stupid question but nobody has been able to give me a definite answer.

I have overstayed my non imm B visa by a few days, and went to the local immigration office to get it stamped and pay the fine.

I was under the impression that they would give me another 3 months but they only offered me 14days at the cheap price of 1900bht plus 200bht per day.

Does this mean I have to leave the country and re-apply at an embassy or can i just border jump at Had Yai?? What will i need to take with me in the way of letters from employer and such, as my employer and even the immigration office are not specific in telling me what is required.

Any help would be appreciated.

If you only have a single entry visa you will need to leave Thailand within the extension period, go to a Thai Embassy or Consulate, and start the whole application process again, just like you did for the previous application.

All that hassle, just because you overstayed.

A good lesson to all, check the dates!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I once read on this forum that you need to have x amount of baht in cash on you to enter the country.  Is this still true? Something about an old law coming into effect again....

That "old" law has always been in effect but not often checked except for those that appear to be of less than normal means (or otherwise fall from grace). It is 10k for a 30 day stamp or 20k for a visa entry and double those amounts for family.

Variation on a theme ...

I'm going to Penang next week to renew my non imm B. Unfortunately, my employer forgot about the WP3 in Penang and there is a delay that will overrun my visa, but only a little bit.

My question is: Can I overstay less than a week and take care of it in Penang or is that just a bad idea? Thanks!

General Rule is : DO NOT overstay .

If you are in overstay do not get caught by any PoliceForce.

If you exit the country you will be charged only THB 200.-/day by the ImmigrationOfficer, no backlash.

If you get caught in between the outcome is difficult to predict , but you will be in serious trouble.Police Station, big fine, immediate border run or worse.

Do you have a work permit or have applied for a work permit?

Does your company meet the criteria of having 4 Thai employees( 1 Thai employee per wp if an Consultant or Agent biz) ?

If yes, you can simply apply for an extension of stay without leaving Thailand.

If no to the above, then if you have a single entry visa, you must start all over again by leaving Thailand and going to an Embassy. Just depends on where you want to go, the criteria is different for many of the Embassies/Consultants.

If no to the above and you have a multiple entry. Cross the border and get a fresh 90 day visa.

Yes, I will have a work permit, but I don't yet. The company is quite big and does WPs all the time. What does a extesion entail? documents, cash, etc? thanks!

Sunbelt was replying to another post. You dug up an old thread to post your questions rather than starting a new thread and that causes problems for us readers.
