Extending 30 Day Visa Waiver.

Featured Replies

Hi,

Many thanks for most excellent forum.

Please can someone advise on 30 day visa waiver extention re pre booked flights.

Can I arrive in Thailand with a return flight booked that leaves 7- 10 days after the

30 day period and cover the extra days with a visa run or extention at the

Imigration ( Pattaya ) Office before the 30 days is up?

Many thanks.

Airlines will let you on the flight, but it's their policy to inform you about the legality of the overstay without the proper Visa. Airline ticket counter employees will need an override from a manager on duty who will verify that the airline will not be legally responsible for any faults if the situation arises. They will further note their computer systems and notify the authority of the matter. If you are paranoid that they won't let you on the flight just buy a budget airline round trip ticket on Nok Air or Air Asia to a neighboring country as proof you will not be over staying. You could also try purchasing a bus or train ticket and printing out the docs as proof. I hope that helps you and we'll see you in Thailand.

The airline might not let you on the flight without a Visa or a ticket leaving Thailand within 30 days.

Airlines will let you on the flight

Many will not let you board and it has nothing to do with overstay - you do not meet requirements for visa exempt entry without proof of onward travel. And 10 days extension is not possible (even 7 days could be an issue but is normally granted with proof of flight out) but a border run would be possible. But obtaining a tourist visa prior to travel would likely be cheaper and avoid any issues with airline.

I agree with lopburi, an extension is 1900 baht plus the hassle of spending a few hours or longer at the immigration office and potential hassle from your airline. Much easier to just get a single entry tourist visa in your country, many cities have a 24hr turn around time for this.

Hi,

Many thanks to all for some very good info and a rapid response to my question.

Have decided to book a cheap flight from BKK to Clark in AC for a short visit before my

30 days are up. Thanks again and all the best.

So I plan go to Phnom Penh & back to Thailand with a one-way ticket without visa ( 2 - 3 years also it was not problem, at check-in ) but now I'm worry with Air Asia..if they will let me boarding back to BKK without visa with just one way !

Traveling from neighbouring countries that is rarely checked.
