Magha Bucha celebrates a day nine months after the Buddha’s enlightenment … so what did you do?

Get up at the crack of dawn and help the misses/gf preparing the food to go to the Temple in the morning?

Chill with a few beers instead?

Did you feel particularly enlightened today?

What was the trade like down at the bars?

Where some/any of the bars open?

Did/will you go with the misses/gf to the Temple tonight and celebrate again?

* To the Mods, can this not be transferred to the Buddhism Forum as few of the readers here rarely venture there.

last night the family all piled into the van and headed for the wat in Bang Pla Ma near changwat Suphan for a special ceremony with the monks...then later some friends came over and they played cards until the wee hours of the morning...

Are they making any attempt to hid the beer in say a tin cup ... or enough tea money has been paid and it's business as usual?

Any bars in the area closed?

What city are you in ... if it's not too personal a question?

Something like that, but at supper time we were so busy stuffing our faces there wasn't any time for boom boom. And besides, there was about 1500 people in that place. Crazy guys with pots full of glowing coals and boiling water were running through the crowded gaps between the tables. I'd hate to get my private parts singed in such a public place. Standing stark naked in the crowded hallway of the Kanchanaburi public hospital was bad enough.

Methinks you have Selective Buddhist Disorder.........

You start this thread off on a very spiritual fashion and now you're wanting to know which bars are open and selling beer illegally.

Yup.......you're going native. thumbsup.gif

Blame it on me, Blether. I turned the topic from a religeous holiday to something more akin to the pleasures of mankind.

Nope ... I blame it on theblether ... that has quite a ring to it ... blame it on the blether

Obviously he didn't take the time to actually read the thread as there were 2 religious related suggestions, 1 subtly worded sarcastic comment about enlightenment and 3 about alcohol !

Me things he speed reads badly.

Mr Forbes, I haven’t read much of your posts ... but you seem to have a fine reputation!

Thanks for chiming in tutsie also.

Theblether likes to keep topics light and friendly. I'm more serious, but enjoy a bit of a laugh as well. And, I'll often make a silly comment for no other reason than to bring the topic back to the top of the board. I thank you for starting the topic because even though I had heard the holiday was big Buddha day, I really didn't know what it was officially called, or anything about it.
