Blown Tire blamed on fatal road crash close to Pattaya

PATTAYA:--A 49 year old man was killed as his LPG powered pick-up burst into flames following a blown tire causing him to lose control of the vehicle which overturned into a ditch.

The body of Khun Chaiyut was removed from the vehicle after it was declared safe by firefighters who arrived to put out the fire caused by the ruptured LPG tank on the truck which was situated on the side of Highway 331 in the Plu Ta Luang area, close to Pattaya.

Witnesses confirmed this was a single-vehicle accident and the wife of the victim later confirmed that her Husband had called her seconds before the crash and claimed he was lost on Highway 331.

"...and the wife of the victim later confirmed that her Husband had called her seconds before the crash and claimed he was lost on Highway 331."

.

Was the cause of the blowout because he was on the phone while driving? Perhaps left the road while distracted and copped a blowout?

I'm not one to complain but......shouldn't the headline read "Fatal crash blamed on blown tyre...." or even "Blown tyre blamed for fatal road crash...."

In any case, everyone knows that a simple blown tyre doesn't cause you to go cartwheeling down the road unless you're doing something else stupid at the same time.

The title and the story is misleading or not reported properly. Is the cause of the crash and fire the blown tire igniting the LP somehow as that's what's being implied but it also says he crashed and the truck was on fire but it implies it was on fire before the crash, very confusing to say the least..

I can see a possible scenario where the tire blows and severs the gas line and the tire rim or something else rubs the ground causing sparks and igniting the flowing gas but in that case it would have to be a rear tire and still a freak accident which is the case of most "accidents" anyways..

Actually on second thought I guess it is possible to have a front tire cause that since the gas line is run underneath the length of the vehicle to the engine and I've rerouted some gas lines that have been run through moving suspension parts before putting them in harms way..
