Having read previous post's regarding how to obtain a Residence Certificate for a person who is retired and has a Family with Thai Wife and Thai Children ( from that Marriage), I start this Topic to have a clarification from Thai Visa Forum Members in this Matter.

I have a Retirement visa valid for one year, with a 3 month reporting to The Immigration Office in Mae Sai.

To get a renewal for the 1 year retirement visa I must show a Letter from my Embassy (German) in Bangkok, stating that I live in Thailand at the given (Adress) with my Thai Wife.

This letter is expiring in some month's to come.

As I travelled through Bangkok, coming from Singapore, I visited the german Embassy in South Sathorn Road, to get the Letter of Residency renewed.

Now I was told, that the Statement where I live, I made in my last issued Letter of Residency does not suffice anymore, as my Situation could have changed.

I was told by the Embassy official to get in touch with he Amphoe Office (Provincial Administration Office where I live) and have them issue to me a Certificate that I stay at the said Adress.

My Wife went to the Amphoe and enquired about my Status.

The requirement's they needed for a Registration are as follow.

Make a Photocopy of my Passport (better in duplicate) with the first 3 pages, and the last visa (Retirement) and the TM 6 departure card, last entry stamp, and the Re-Entry Visa.

Have the Translation stamped valid by the Passport/Registration office in Chiang Mai (same as the Chaeng Wattana Office in Bangkok) and take the copies back to the Amphoe Office where a Yellow book for Alian Residency will be issued.

The Phuyai baan has to sign a application there as well, and then I will get a ID card for use in the Thai medical service (Hospital, Doctor acess etc.)

I have a Thai Drivers License since 3 years, and will have to renew it in 2 Years time.

The Yellow book/ Alian House Registration book and the ID card will give me acess to all the services, regular Thai's are entitled to.

Question is, do I need for all the applications a recent medial examination of a accredidet Hospital in Thailand?

My last one was done in a Medical Centre in Singapore.

I read from other Member's post that such medical Examination should be recent, and no older than 3 months?

Must have missed some other Requirements, please advise!

For a 1 year extension of stay, normally it is enough if you can proof your adress with a utillity bill or something (Telephone, electricity or such). I have not heard of being required to show a residency letter from your embassy.

It seems that you wan to apply for a yellow tabien baan and get medical care as a bonus. No medical certificate is required for that, or for an extension of stay based on retirement.

For retirement the only requirement is, next to rpoof of adress if asked for, that you meet the financial requirements.

Thanks Mario 2008 for the advise.

Yes, I am aware that I must have for my extension of the retirement visa some kind of proof of residency.

I'll try the telephone bill in my name, or the Thai drivers license.

My wife (Thai) is always accompanying me to the immigation, and she also has to sign a statemant of beeing married and co-habit with me.

As for the yellow tabian baan book, I must copy my passport and have a stamp from the Foreign office to certify it.

Is there another way to get the passport copy certified? A visa/passport service perhaps?

Bothersome just to drive 550 km RT for a stamp.

I wonder if anybody has bothered with issuing of the"Yellow tabian baan".

Would be a interesting new topic, if you want to start one?

Wife says, nothing can be done soon regarding visa extensions/retirement/drivers license etc. for a Farang without a Yellow tabian baan book.

There is a topic regarding yellow tabien baan here: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/156485-yellow-tabien-bahn/ and I believe there are several others.

The requiremetns seem to depend on the amphur, I must get much more to get it.

Certification can be done in Bangkok and Chiang Mai, but most translation agencies will do it for you. You must have a translation into Thai, make sure it is the same as on your marriage registration.

If all you want is a residency certificate why not just do what we all do and take your phone bill into your local immigration office, give them 200 baht and get the paper?

I don't think the yellow book gives you all of the same status as a Thai. I mean you cannot vote or work doing all of the "work a foreigner cannot do in Thailand," bank loans, pension etc. can you? That would be citizenship.

Do I have to fill in a Application Form For residence Certificate in Thailand , First.

What about a passport copy certification of visa's entry from the Foreign Ministry. Do I have to appear in person to get the authentification for a Yellow Tabian Baan, or can a translation company do it for me?

"Wife says, nothing can be done soon regarding visa extensions/retirement/drivers license etc. for a Farang without a Yellow tabian baan book."

I don't think that's correct. The majority of foreigners getting those services, visa extensions/retirement/drivers license etc, do not have a yellow book. There is no requirement to have one.

went to my embassy (germany) and asked for a residence ertificate again as of the previous years.

The official said, no more certificates are issued by them unless I have a proof of residence.

Catch 22, that proof is a yellow tabian baan issued from the Amphur (Amphoe) where you reside.

In order to get the yellow tabian baan , I must have my passport xeroxed and the relevant pages authentisized by the MOF in Chiang Mai or Bangkok.

I live in Chiang Rai and now have to travel to Chiang Mai just for the stamping and signing of my passport.

I'll try if a translation office (YMCA) here can do that for me.

Other readers did not have to show certified copys of their passport to the Amphur official.

I live in that Tamboon, Amphoe for 18 years, married to the same wife, have 2 teenaged kids in school, support them all.

I have a retirement visa by means of the 800K in the bank, modus operandum.

I get a pension but its not in the range of 65K a month minimum requirement.

Can it be that if you have a yellow tabian baan book, which shows your residency, that one day the taxman is knocking on your door and ask you from what income do you and the family live on??

You can draw the 800 K in the bank down, but have to top it up again 2 months before extending the visa.

I use another account in my bank and transfer funds from abroad into it and retrieve money on the ATM and keep the balance slips as proof.

If you have a retirement visa in Thailand you cannot work here.

What if you go to work sometimes outside of Thailand and have money to live on send to your account here? In that case, you are not retired anymore?

In Europe/UK one still can work to an extend and income level, even when retired and drawing a pension?

Some comments pls.
