Advice On How To Hire Some Thai Workers

Featured Replies

I'm going to be managing a factory that's got to double/triple production over the next few weeks, and their HR girl hasn't had much success getting new workers in.

So I'll be looking to hire another office girl, needs decent English, but the office and PC experience is more important, will be doing general admin, production reporting (pseudo-bookkeeping but not really), and most importantly my right hand and translator (I have basic Thai but not enough for business matters).

Suggestions for where to find someone quickly, or even specific referrals via PM would be welcome, but note I'm not looking for young and cute, but confident and assertive, which here usually translates to older. Salary in the ß10-15K range, six day weeks usually pretty regular hours around 8-5, lunch provided.

Pointers to some people at the local better tertiary (uni/college/business/tech schools) would be welcome, as well as recommendations as to which papers to advertise in on what days.

Also pointers on how to go about hiring say a dozen factory workers, willing to get out and hand out flyers if necessary, suggestions as to where to post notices - I assume newspaper advertising is a waste of time and money. No experience required, work not that hard, wages recently increased from around ß180 to the new ß251 daily minimum, same hours as above, likely OT opportunities at ß376 for an extra 3 hours and a nice free lunch every day. If Burmese *must* be legal.

Again, referral to a contractors or agents whatever that charge a finder's fee would also be welcome.

Also looking for pointers to places where I might meet fellow expat factory managers in the area would be most appreciated, I'm pretty wet behind the ears in this topic domain. . .

Great CV but may help everyone if you advise your location is Bkk or CM or somewhere else.

Perhaps you would be best to place an ad in Thaivisa classifieds or a business publication rather than seek business related advice here. As a 'factory manager' you would know that .... closed
