bigt116 Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 Hi all, The gf just bought a brand new scooter from the shop and I am now trying to find out about insurance. She says she will get the red plates from the shop in 2 weeks, do we have to wait until then to get insurance ? I have tried asking her, but get totally non committal answers, and i want to know that we are fully covered. Any clues as to where or how much it will be ? is the bike covered or do we need insurance for every rider ? Sorry for asking so many questions, any help would be most appreciated Lloyd
flying Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 Don't know but would be interested to hear the answer too.... Maybe asking in the Bikes section will be better? http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/forum/117-bikes-in-thailand/
chris2004 Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 You are usually sold the third party compulsary insurance when you get the bike (a few hundred baht). Usually as well they offer a 1 or 2 year theft insurance for @ 4,000 baht (which i think is worth doing). If you want more comprehensive insurance you need to take out a policy through a broker @ 7,000 baht p.a. 1
