East Pattaya German Bar Owner accused of providing minors for sex

PATTAYA:--The German owner of a Bar located in East Pattaya is at the center of a human trafficking and underage prostitution case following an undercover operation at the bar on Friday.

Police Lieutenant General Panya, Region 2 Police Commissioner led a press conference at Banglamung Police Station to announce the arrest of Mr. Heinrich Lutz Meyer aged 61 and his Thai wife, Khun Tipaporn aged 34, the joint owners of the Albatros Club in Soi Kao Noi in East Pattaya. Undercover Foreign Operatives were sent into the bar and paid 2,500 Baht in exchange for sexual services of a 17 and 14 year old girl.

The marked bank notes were handed over and Police then moved in and found further underage girls working at the bar.

How desperate for money are these people?no scruples or morals, 61 years old, OMG, doesn't he have grand children? or does he see Thais as, non people? Full extent of the law please, if proven true...

Appears to be nasty exploitation of young girls for greed. Hope he gets a well deserved stay in a Thai prison followed by deportation to Germany. I'm sure the German authorities will want an interesting converstation. Similarly, the part his wife and business partner played should be dealt with too.

Yes it is a bad thing they have done but they have probably been paying off the police anyway but then ran into police they couldnt pay off.

Sad fact here is that underage prostitution is a common occurrence. Half the Thai bars and massage parlours would be closed down if this law was rigourously enforced.

This joint is staffed with some seriously age handicapped "girls". The youngen's must have been kept upstairs.

Amusing that it is still open for business.

By closing down what would be a huge number of these establishments will make the area easier to police and give less potentials to foreign criminals seeking safe houses and a behind the scenes way of perpetrating their illegal activities as a means of making a living in Thailand.

It makes complete sense to me to eliminate these criminal establishments even if it`s not possible to rid the area of all of them. Plus you will find that even what may appear as solely Thai owned businesses could not function without farang financial backing, or in other words there is a farang in the shadows somewhere.

All I am actually saying is; that in Thailand there are certain laws in place regarding foreign Immigration requirements, plus employment and business ownership prohibitions, and that all they need to do is enforce them.

17 is not underage.

A girl working in a bar must be 20 years old, legally.

Actually it's 18 for service staff, although 20 to drink alcohol.
