Roi Et To Ayutthia By Road

Featured Replies

I’ve done the Route 23/2/1 ROI to BKK too many times to do so voluntarily again. This time we are going to Ayutthaya, RON and see sights, then to Hua Hin. I’m looking at a route that will take:

  • Rt 229 from the Rt23/2 intersection at Ban Phai to join
  • Rt 201 southbound to Kaeng Khro,
  • join Rt 205 to Chai Baden, then
  • Rt 21 to where it
  • Joins Re 1, up a little and then
  • Rt 3034/3267/3467 over to Rt 329
  • And then 3063 and from their GPS on a maze of 4 digit roads to
  • Ayutthaya.

Other than the very real possibility that I will end up in Myanmar, or divorced, has anyone on-line traveled this route, or part of it, that can advise, or suggest an alternative. Usually the 4 digit roads are suspect, but some can be surprisingly good. The case here? Any other thoughts?

Road conditions will be very bad - potholes everywhere on 3/4-digit roads, but other than that, it's worth doing if you aren't in a hurry. Can't comment on your specific route, but have been on many 4-digit roads near Roi Et. Not a lot to see, but maybe follow the odd Tourist Attraction sign to a dinosaur site, or waterfall, and make a long day of it. With a decent GPS map, you'll have a good time - IF you and your wife enjoy mini-adventures. We do.

Have fun.
