Tachilek Visit--Re-Entry Permit Requirements

Featured Replies

OK--apologies if this has been asked before [ I feel certain it will have been but have not input correct search criteria to get any findings--so, apologies]--is there a work-around for the need to go through the minor hassle of getting a Re-Entry permit prior to making a very short shopping trip to Tachilek on the Burmese side of Mae Sai--I seem to remember getting a paper document issued on the spot by Thai Immigration at Mae Sai which allowed me to cross to the Burmese side without the need for passport/Re-Entry paperwork; am I misleading myself or does this practice still take place???

Many thanks for any info/help. Incidentally I will not be there for any visa update requirements--purely to go to buy some stuff on the other side.

I'm only guessing and would also like a definitive answer from someone with experience there.

I would guess that any time you leave the country on say retirement visa, you need a re-entry permit,
